Never settle for less than what you want.

About Me

I started playing drums in 1991 for no other reason than the fact that my best friend played in a garage band. I got inspired and started playing. At first I was pretty bad, but over time I just stuck with it and got better. I've never had any lessons, though I wish I would have.I get incredible joy out of playing, especially live. There's nothing quite like being on stage and feeding off the energy of a crowd. I've had the opportunity to play in front of groups as small as 10 people and as large as 1,000.I finally got to the point where I was beginning to get bored with drumming. After you've played for as many years as I have, you have the potential to sort of plateau and get in a rut. That's when I decided to pick up bass.
Since I've been playing bass, I've been listening hard to Ed Poole, Marcus Miller, Jaco, and of course, the incredible Tony Grey. The more I play, the more hooked on bass I get. My goal is to become as proficient on the bass as I am on drums. After an exhausting search for band mates, I decided to strike out on my own, to begin composing my own music, writing it the way I wanted to. Sure, I've been a part of bands, but every time I've had to work around someone else's ideas, do things their way. Have you ever had ideas that you wanted to express, to be heard, only to have them discarded, ignored? That's how I felt. I wanted to do something more, to be something more. I have all these ideas, these riffs and chord progressions floating around, and I need to get them out. Thus, we reach the purpose of this site. This is my project, my vision. It is a means for me to get the thoughts in my mind out and make them sing. As I write songs, I'll post them on this site. At some point, I hope to pass these ideas on to people more talented on the instruments, allowing them to play them better than I could.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: deliciousagony.com
Band Members: At this point, its just me. I'm hoping to start working more with other people who play their instruments better than I do.
Influences: I have such a wide range of influences, but I'll try and keep this to those that impact me the most...Dream Theater, WhiteHeart, Rush, Maximum Indifference, Headshear, Planet X, Travis Larson, Jimmy Chamberlin Complex, Devin Townsend, Indukti.

In terms of bass playing, there's no bigger influence on my playing than Tony Grey. Tony's been my bass teacher for 4 months now and has had a tremendous impact on how I play. He's an amazing player and has some of the best chops I've ever heard or seen.

As my study of bass has continued, I've really gotten into some of the great players out there today. I've been listening a lot to Damian Erskine, who has just released a new disc and instructional book. Also, I'm a late comer to the late great Jaco Pastorius. Marcus Miller is another favorite.
Sounds Like: You'll have to decide that for yourself. As far as instruments go, I play a Zon 519 and a Roscoe 3006 6 string. They are both works of art.
