Bassism is funny

About Me

"BIO"

Fabrizio Giovampietro was born in Rome 11/8/1979.
He started his relationship with music at december 1994 when his father, for christmas, gave him a classic guitar. From that moment he never left music. He moved his first step playing on guitar songs of bands he like (Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Dinosaur Jr...). At 16 he took part in his first band "Mad's Hats" as singer. In november 1997 he started to play a keyboard to form a band called Jungle Trip". When "Jungle Trip" broke up he began his composer carrer with more than 200 songs composed only with his keyboard between 1998 and 2002. During this period he fell in love with bass and started to play in a rock band called "Gialvifa". So in summer 2001 he started to study bass and music in general in a school of Rome. He got disappointed of bass lessons so he quit after just a year. At that time he had a rude rock style on bass, playing only with pick. In 2002 Vittorino, a friend of F.G., let him listen to "DMV" a song of Primus . From that day in F.G. explode the musical passion for this wonderful eclectic bass player Les Claypool . "Les' style brought a huge influence on me, he pratically let me discover what is a bass and how to play it using all the potentiality it has". In a couple of years F.G. became known as a really good bass player, and in the little town he live almost everyone wanted to play with him. In effects he took part in many different bands: "Venetre", "Insilco", "Kadath", "Tea-V", "Polpo" (playing keyboard)... These mentioned bands was prevalently rock band. The most important bands he played was "Neo" and "Sbròn Zoratto" , bands with which F.G. started to develope his favourite way of playing. A way near to funk and avantgarde with much slappy parts. Nowadays he play just with "Sbròn Zoratto" but with "Neo" F.G. played all over the Italian territory. He partecipated twice (once with "Neo" and once with "Sbròn Zoratto" ) at Arezzo Wave Love Festival. Recently he formed up a commercial band, a cover band of "Red Hot Chili Peppers" one of his favourite band. So F.G. is pratically an auto-didact bass player. He tried to take bass lessons but even if he tried to study with magnificent bassisits like Alessandro Corsi (" Capolinea ") he never reached what he was finding. So he took that way to learn from listening music and listening himself. "DISCOGRAPHY" - "Distratto" (Neo) 2001
- "Invito a Cena con Derelitto" (Sbròn Zoratto) 2002
- "La Quinta Essenza della Mediocrità" (Neo) 2004
- "Problemi, Dubbi, Perplessità" (Neo) 2006
- "Cosmesi e Merendine" (Sbròn Zoratto) 2006 I want to make clear that the song "Black End" is from the band "Capolinea" .
"Black End" is just a version, a remake of "Noir", a song from "Capolinea" .
So "Capolinea" own the copyright of the song "Noir" and I have just make a version of that and I called it "Black End".
The other three songs instead are written and played by me.
In "Lost Key" and in "She Really becoming Clever" I play the bass while the drums are clearly fake, done with computer programs.
In "Cyrus Effort" is the same as above but I played all the guitars too.
