BIOGRAPHY:
Voyager II is one of Arizona's finest up and coming local acts. While the modest musician would blush if someone were to point out that he's a well-known figure in our local scene, and he would probably try to dissuade such rumors. Nothing could be more true.
A writer first, and a musician second are probably two of the most imperative things that makes him standout amongst the crowd. Lyrics are why people listen to music; said Schuerman and he was correct, most angst ridden teens and pre teens got into music because it sounded the way that they felt. Their words came right out of the mouth of legends like Kris Roe, or Milo (Auckerman) and spoke to their hearts.
The best way to describe Schuerman's sound would be to compare it to raw silk. His two-track demo was completely recorded within the walls of his Chandler home. Chris also played each instrument on the CD. A bit self-critical, he divulged that it was difficult to multi-task so much, admitting that he prefers to play music, investing attention into one area at a time.
The songs tap on family turmoil, and growing up, and growing apart. Because of their recorded state, it makes the meaning of their scorched lyrics more accessible on an intellectual and musical level.
In the next year Chris hopes to continue making music, and he also aspires to find a band. Id really like to find other people who are writers and not just musicians. With that frame of mind, and the right pairing, it seems that Christopher Seybert Schuerman will undeniably make his musical dreams come true.
Until then, you can probably find this young man chain-smoking cigarettes at a house party, chomping down on NYPD pizza, or drinking a girly man drink at a bar. Yes, it takes a big man ladies and gentleman to admit to adoring Mai Tais, I told you he was special.
Chris is a genuinely kind and interesting person, in it for the sake of music, not profits or fame. The Arizona native has great potential, and it wouldnt surprise this writer if I heard more about him within the next year.
