A Note from Lights Out drummer, Donny Bragg
I was about 15 when I discovered UFO. I had only started playing drums a few months before, so I was really paying attention to different styles of different drummers- Bonham, Peart, etc. When I heard "Force It" for the first time, I was instantly hooked. In essence, I owe a lot to Andy Parker. In the 20 plus years since then, AP's sense of dynamics became a big part of my playing and always will be.
I have played with many bands, both cover and original, come very close to international fame, and the one thing I have always remembered is the way I felt the first time I heard the legendary album "Lights Out." In all that time, I discovered that nobody (and I mean NOBODY) can even to begin to play "Love to Love" if you don't feel what is really going on in that song!! To me that song is a classic example of A.P.'s dynamics, which is, of course, classic UFO.
In early 2001, when I found out that Bobby (Cayton) and John (Adams) were gonna put together a UFO tribute I knew I needed to be involved! However, I went to Great Britain about the same time, so I missed the initial auditions. When I finally got the chance to join Lights Out, well, let's just say it was like putting on my favorite pair of jeans! I've never been in group like this. It just works. Here we are, almost 5 years later, and it just keeps getting better- but never old. We really enjoy playing in this tribute to UFO and I think it shows when we play. We all have other projects, original of course, and we support each other in those efforts, but Lights Out is kind of like our "home". I really love doing the material and playing with a bunch of guys who share the same devotion to this project as I do.
Hopefully, you will feel the same way and will keep coming back to see us every chance you get.
Hope to see ya soon!!
