About Me

ABOUT ME: I am 53 and live in Chicagoland. I have had the great fortune of living on three different continents and learning Spanish, French, German, and just enough Chinese to get me into trouble along the way. My friends and I joke that we are charter members in the Church of Lost Causes, forever championing something just before it flames out and leaves the material world. I was playing in a band, Blunt Force Trauma, before "artistic differences" ("You are ALWAYS TOO FREAKING LOUD, man!") lead to its downfall. In my spare time, I am restoring my '73 Scout, rehabbing my dad's place in Michigan, hoping that #33 will stay in the NASCAR chase, drivin' my '93 Super Coupe and enjoying the great outdoors and classic rock concerts. I play / enjoy 70s / 80s metal and progressive rock including Thin Lizzy, Saraya, MSG, Great White, Frank Marino, Saxon, B.O.C., and the Outlaws among many others.I am divorced but have three great kids, whom I am so proud of. I have been through a lot of stuff in life, including a pretty nasty divorce and getting wiped out financially (even living out of my car at one point!), but have found peace and a better life working the 12 step program. It sure beats constant chaos and getting that sinking "Oh crap" feeling when one of Chicago's finest pulls up behind you and you've had maybe just one too many! Cook County Jail is no place to be networking for new friends. :) And even though "Blunt Force Trauma Chicago" is but a dust bunny in the history of music, I have this constant ringing in my ears to constantly remind me of our quest for glory. Or just making lots of noise to annoy the neighbors?:) Being interviewed on the mean streets of Milwaukee for Polish Television Oct 13, 2008 - Some of the locals thought I was Anderson Cooper, others suspected I was working a homicide for the Milwaukee Police... Backstage Pass - Mount Prospect, IL 04/05/09

I used to play in a (not very good) covers band here in Chicagoland, so know how hard it is to do good covers of songs, particularly managing all the leads and fills note-for-note. Last summer I saw B...

Lizzy Klones

I subscribe to "Classic Rock" magazine out of the UK, and for all of rockers reaching potential grandpa stage it is a great read. Every month they send out a music sampler of new and obscure music. Th...

When I was a kid growing up back in Milwaukee a thousand years ago, you used to see bumper stickers on cars that said "Live Music is Best". Many of my favorite LPs back in the day were live ones,...
