The right shot matters!
"Making people look good is a job. Making people feel good is my joy."
Behind each face I touch is a book I get to read, and sometimes, I experience chapters after chapters from that one book. People are important to me and who they are "inside" is what matters to me. But the most important of all is you just got to be real! You can't expect the best and not be the best. It's true, you can't keep a good friend unless you know how to be one yourself.
And for me, it's NOT WHO YOU KNOW but what you have to offer to help the community or to make a difference in someone's life. You can network all you want but if there is NO true substance there, you're just wasting your time. People like to take shortcuts, and they forget how they got there later.
I can truly say, most of my personal and business relationships are not shallow or happened over night. There are people to whom I have been doing business for over 12 years. I'm in for the longevity and I will cut something out of my life if it's only going to drain energy, waste time, or become a parasite. Life is short.
This is who I am, I am real and I know what I deserve. I am compassionate, bold and true. I am far from perfect, I am simple, I am warm and loving to those who know how to embrace life and true colors.
Don't listen to what people say, look at what they do. For others and the community. Look at how they make you feel as a person before you believe what you hear. Too many people are quick to judge before experiencing the beauty of the real person.
My message to you: Know that each and everything is temporary. Nothing last forever in this world, you just have to detach from "things" and grab on to the unseen. Indulge in people's hearts rather than what you see because it is what you don't see that will carry you to the next place! Know that when you die, you die alone so it's important that you love yourself, respect yourself and don't let anyone govern your life.
QUESTIONS FROM FRIENDS AND FANS:
What irritates me the most? People who just don't get that what goes around comes around.
What turns me on? Amazing energy.
Why I do what I do? Because it's the natural thing to do. You just have to exhaust your talent and skills. It was given to you for a big reason.
What should people know about me? That I am filthy rich inside. And you have to be special to get in there.
What has been my latest accomplishment? I quit smoking cigs cold turkey, went on a new workout/diet and gained 13 pounds in almost 3 weeks. I just celebrated 2 years in Las Vegas on September 17, 2007.
What has been the most recent learning lesson in my life? Well, when God forgives you, healed you, saved you, brought you peace, etc. It is a rope that he is giving you not to stay where you are but to pull yourself above where you are.
I've also learned that being honest and giving true love which sometimes is "tough" love to friends is not easy. It often will reveal their true colors and the time to walk away arrives.
The one thing you never tolerate? A person who lies and believes their lies.
Q&A from MidWeek Magazine April 20, 2008
Favorite thing about your job?
Is making people feel good.
Least favorite thing about your job?
Can’t complain.
What is something you need to have at all your photoshoots?
Besides my gear, cornnuts! Seriously, it’s become my new vice since quitting smoking in 2005! I urge all of you smokers to kick the habit, join the gym and grab a bag of cornuts!
Person you would most love to photograph?
It was Princess Diana. She had this glow about her that I wanted to capture.
What has been the most challenging experience for you?
Personally, it was being a victim of identity theft.
What is beauty to you?
True beauty is unseen. Everything on the outside is just temporary. Enjoy what you see but hold on tight to inner beauty.
What is your message to teens today seeking to be involved in the modeling and entertainment industry?
Like anything, don’t let it become your self esteem. Have fun but detach your soul from the industry and you’ll be okay.
What was the last compliment a fan, admirer given you? “You Rock!â€
What is it like photographing celebrities or high profile people?
The same as shooting you. We are just people and the best results come from connecting within.
How does it feel to be referred to as a local celebrity?
There is no feeling, just sort of more responsibility I guess. I think people make you a celebrity or role model, etc. I thank the many fans and supporters I have gained over the years. If there is anything difficult about it, I’d have to say not being embraced from the inside, most will see you for what you can do for them. But it’s okay, because I’m a way better person than I am a photographer.
Goal in life?
To be happy with each yesterdays.
What is your message to the world?
To be more selfless so we can make greater differences in this world..
Who can benefit from your photo services and how?
Anyone. Professionals, celebrities, aspiring models and actors, engagement photos, and graduating seniors. Visit www.rtfoto.com or the fansite at www.russelltanoue.com .
What’s new?
Well after almost 2 decades in this industry, I am now offering a Pro Foto Workshops for aspiring photographers and a Best Face Pro Photo Make Up Workshop for the new makeup artist. Interested individuals may register at www.rtfoto.com .
