About Me
Starting as a Mobile DJ in Puerto Rico and after winning two consecutive DJ contests, Willie Correa got his first job as a club DJ. Willies first clubs consisted of NCO, Club 305 and Punto El Coqui in Puerto Rico. After residing in Puerto Rico for 18 years, Willie decide to take his talent to New York City where he would take up residency at a club called Perfect Tommys Café in Manhattan. After two years in the Big Apple, Willie decided to move to Tallahassee, FL with his sister. Being unfamiliar with the English language made it difficult for Willie to find his first job. However, after meeting several key players in town, the word that he was a talented DJ got around quickly. Willie started out doing house parties, which then lead to his first Tallahassee residency at a club called 506. In 1996, Willie was the first to bring the underground sound to Late Night Library (Tallahassees most prominent club). As he increasingly drew in more and more crowds, Willie found himself receiving offers from clubs all over Tallahassee, such as Metropolis, The Moon, Club Park Avenue and Club Brothers. Willies next residency was at the only after hours club in Tallahassee, The Underground. While manning a successful record store, And the Beat Goes On, Willie released Without You (PK Records), his first record collaborating with Darrell Nutt. Without You quickly became a top ten record in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas. Having a top ten record, in conjunction with working with Kram Records got Willie copious out-of-town gigs. He travelled all over Florida with DJs Keoki, Icey, Dimitri, Kimball Collins and Rabbit in the Moon. In 1997, Willie and Darrell released Nearfield and Zen Experience on ESA and OX Records from Miami. After Willie and Darrell experienced putting out a number of records on other labels, they decided to start their own record label: Mix One Records. They would then release a remix of Without You by George Acosta, The Electro Body Rockers and DJ Doc Rocs To the Beat. In 1998, Willie earned a residency in South Beach, FL at Goldfinger/Fahrenheit. In 1999 he released the club hit Gotta Have the Funk. Also, the LP Breakland and the mix labs Bootleg. In 2000 Willie went back to Tallahassee where he currently holds residencies at Bullwinkles and Brother's Night Club.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
