About Me

J.K.A. and the Band
This band was formed in spring 2004. I was the originator of the project and thus the name of the band. Im the author of most of the repetoire of the band, but we play compositions of the other members as well. I like it this way, because we feel more like a team.
Keywords for me are eclecticism, curiosity and restless musical search. Imaginative, lyrical, poetic and energetically swinging music, free-form, ballads and nice grooves in different meters. Our goal is to create a space of creativity, freedom and joy at playing music. To give the musicians and the audience an exiting, intense and humorous experience.
When writing music it seems so natural and obvious for us to connect it with our impression of life. My music is a travelogue of musical pictures from nature, different places, people & ideas that fill my mind and imagination. I believe this journey can be fuel for a growing consciousness, musical and human growth..... and just a funny, meaningful way of navigating through life....
"Take a trip to a diamondhill, go to a place where the moon stands still, anywhere you can feel the thrill of walking the unknown."
Hope you're having a good time out there! -grace and blessings J.K.A.
The press wrote about J.K.A. & the Band: J.K.A. – "...a luminous shot on the rich danish Bass tradition...besides he's an original composer capable of creating new music against a background of his sources of inspiration. They include as different names as Bob Dylan and Wayne Shorter." & the Band –"....the instrumental standard is towering. Add an exuberant desire to experiment and seek unknown territory, and you have a band, that's really worth spending your night with." ( by Erik Andresen, Vejle Amts Folkeblad, concertreview from Paraplyen – arr. JIVE –jazz i Vejle).
