Cyndi Lauper, more than a 'pop' icon of the 80's. She is the 'genuine article'. A truly great gift to sound. Seldom credited or acclaimed, her power-house vocal range, personality, and individualist qualities make her one of the most unforgettable talents in rock history. So enough with the 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' era of recognition. The body of work speaks for itself. Go on out and pick up some cds and enjoy music in a way that is most condusive to the human spirit; from the heart. "If you look in the box you'll find a whole lot more."Depeche Mode, these guys just keep getting greater as the years go by. Just check out their newest album 'Playing the Angel' and you'll see what I mean.Nails! Fucking great on cd and live(and playing out in your mind while you break stuff). Baby-making music for us manic depressants(not me really). I remember "Head Like a Hole", the first single and it brings back fond memories of fresh out of high school debachery.Iron Maiden, one of my favorite bands ever. I met Nicko McBrain, the second drummer who replaced Clive Burr, at the local mall in 1988. He signed a copy of "Somewhere in Time" for me and was very friendly. A great experience I will never forget.Cat Rapes Dog, a wonderful industrial/heavy/techno band from Scandanavia, are a treat to hear if you are lucky enough to come across any of their recorded works. Songs like, "Capitalist Punishment", "Jesus Swallows", "Workers of the World", and "Fuck Nature" are inventive and a little preachy, nevertheless, surrealistic outlooks of a socio-political nature.BOWIE!!!Duran, seen them 6 times and loved every show. So glad all original members are back!Alice Cooper, the pioneer of Theatrics in rock shows.Erasure! The Faint! RANCID! The REAL INXS! Michael Hutchense, RIP Thank you Manson! The Moody Blues!QUEEN!My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult! Kate Bush LAIBACH! Mozart, the Requiem! Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Ludwig Van BeethovenFrank Zappa Miles DavisNOFX! KMFDM! Funker Vogt! Front 242! Syd Barret's 'Jugband Blus' best track! JIMI! Bad Religion 'Empire Strikes First'! Pennywise! EURYTHMICS! Annie and Dave! Never pass up an opportunity to see Terence Trent D'Arby live, he kicks ass on stage! I will stake my reputation on it. Glenn Miller, you all know 'In the Mood'! Benny Goodman, 'Sing, Sing, Sing' is one of my favorite big band songs ever! Chuck Mangione! The Dead Milkmen!
John Waters is the most hillarious man in cinema 'period'. If you don't laugh your arse off in films like: 'Multiple Maniacs', 'Pink Flamingos', 'Female Trouble', 'Desperate Living', 'Serial Mom', and 'Cecil B. Demented', then there is definitely something wrong with you. "I wasn't eating!" "Look he's attacking"!Dario Argento. His many visions and styles make him the king of Italian Horror. Watch for oddball photograhy and 'light bulb' scenes that are accompanied by music that enhances the pictures. He might make an appearance in the heroes section but if not, you'll know he should when you catch these titles: 'Suspiria', 'Four Flies on Grey Velvet', 'Deep Red', 'Tenebre', 'Phenomenon', 'Opera', 'The Stendhal Syndrome', and many more. The Big 'G'. We go way back, its seems I can't remember a day of my life where I did not know of the King of Kaiju Cinema.Gamera! Both of these films are helmed by Italian Director, Umberto Lenzi. Though they both are cannibal films, their pace and base story lines are quite different. "Cannibal Ferox" and "Eaten Alive" (not to be confused with Tobe Hooper's by the same name) are in my favorites pile in no particular order at all. Full of cheesy gore, humor and some blatantly crude pillow-talk. I just couldn't expect anything more from these movies at all. And you shouldn't either. So quit with the Hollywood trash rash of new or remade so-called horror movies and live a little. Try one of these classics out."Holocausto Cannibal", Ruggero Deodato's Italian Classic, finally on DVD after too long of a wait. This picture is a stand-out amongst the rush of cannibal movies that came out in Italy in the late '70's and early '80's. This film is so surreal that it almost comes across as being a documentary. Actual footage and real natives make it a masterpiece of blood and carnage(and a little bit of bizarre sex). The late, great Lucio Fulci. "Cat in the Brain" is one of my favorites and is soon to be released by Grindhouse. "City of the Living Dead" was released under the title "The Gates of Hell" in the US. The drill scene is still a great moment in horror cinema. The DVD release has a menu button that takes you right to the drill, but I recommend you watching it in its entirety. Who could forget about "Zombie", one of my favorite flesh-eating films ever. This classic has an underwater; shark vs. zombie scene in it. You gotta love that, and if you don't, you will as soon as you check out the Lucio Fulci library. Also, "Lizard in a Woman's Skin" is kinda trippy. John Carpenter Terry Gilliam Tobe Hooper THE ORIGINAL!!! Ridley Scott's master piece of horror/sci-fi fusion. Released in '79, this film is the most contemporay sci-fi film I have seen. Could be released today without looking dated. James Cameron's 'combat' sequel. Made us all realize that sequels don't have to suck. The best direction the story line and the franchise could take. David Fincher's visionary and gothic third installment took the series in a completely different direction. The extended cut is like watching a different movie all together. Shame that cut of the film wasn't the one originally released. Neil Marshall
Forget everything you think you know about the Star Trek series. Enterprise, though it only had four seasons, is one of the best Sci-Fi shows ever. Oh Yes, TNG baby! I love this show and after all these years I find it very contemporary amongst its peers.I must admit that I unintentially ignored this series until I saw the movie which arrived shortly after the fifth season. I was instantly hooked and set my video timer for about a year or so before I had all the episodes to date at my disposal. Below is an odd painting I found of Mulder and Scully in Kiss makeup.Awsome update of the original. Cleverly dark and delightfull suspensful.
Redoing my books section, it was all erased...Basically, my favorite writer is Jack Ketchum. I love Whitley Strieber, Clive Barker, Anne Rice, Michael Crichton, Stephen King, William S.Burroughs, Robert E.Howard.
Mark Ryden, one of my favorite artists.

To the faithfully departed...Me and a whole lot of other good people lost two very special people this summer. Justin "Meat" St. Clair(top). And James Douglas "J.D." Mccoy(above). Both were really great friends who stood up for me, and always had my back. I will never forget the loyalty, compassion and respect that we all shared. Also this summer I lost my beloved Rottweiller, Delilah "Dee Dee" Barcus. She was my best friend and companion for over ten years. I will post a pic of her soon, she was a cutie.
