About Me

Well, about me . . . I could quote Sting and say "I'm a legal alien," European female in Tokyo though and not an Englishman in New York.
What brought me here to myspace - I'm not very much active online anymore, though I used to be for quite a long time (though with another nick than this one) was the rediscovery of a long lost love: not a personal love (as in reciprocal relationship), that is, but one with a band and music and the man who created it all and then completely disappeared for far too long a time . . .
It's good to see that both his music and Yoshiki himself are back. Well worth having to deal with the trials and tribulations of myspace.

Who I'd like to meet:
Other Yoshiki and X Japan fans.
And other open-minded, intesting people.
Well, Yoshiki, too, naturally, should be just so happen to be in the neighbourhood. ;)
I'm interested in writing when not reading; books are my addiction - well, my biggest addiction, I could say I have a few more; non that are substances, though: I prefer to get high mentally more than anything else.
Scuba diving and sailing when I can, though unfortunately, these days time is too limited to do it often.
I love rich red wines and dry Nihonshu - outside of Japan knows as "Sake" which here is the generic term for alcoholic drinks - and good food, best during long, leisurely meals with family and friends, that turn into afternoons or evening of long talks and other shared activities.
And lazy weekend afternoons at home, looking out over Tokyo from the balcony, thinking about the million stories going on there. I love this city.
What comes next to me to books is music, I guess, and in that, in particular Yoshiki's, during the unforgetable X Japan years. "Forever Love" is something that applies to my feelings about those guys, Yoshiki and Toshi in particular, and the gift that their existence was and is. If I could I would like some day to say "thank you" for that in person. I guess I can dream . . .
But for that music, for all the things he's been through and maybe most of all for turning all that pain not only into beauty but then share it, yes for all that and for similar experiences despite very different backgrounds, Yoshiki is definitely one of my heroes. Probably the most personal one.
Though I have others, like Stephen Hawking and Freddie Mercury, for never giving up.
Or Willy Brandt, a former German Kanzler, for living up to and sacrificing a lot for his believes, up to risking his life.
Back to music, he only other J Rock group - aside from X JAPAN - I can say I love is Buck Tick, though naturally I used to listen to Luna Sea and the others in Yoshiki's "stable" at Extasy as well, when they were around. Among more current groups I've started to explore are Onmyouza and Girugamesh.
For solists, I have to admit that by now, I like my former favourite peacock Gackt a lot. NOT Malize Miser Gackt, Gackt since 2004, roughly. I adore the 2005 Diabolos tour.
Western Rock: Pink Floyd, Genesis, Procul Harum, The Who, Kiss, Queen are others that come to mind, but it's in no way limited to that.
Well, and there is a slightly guilty not quite addiction to a number of guys from a certain Japanese agency, but that's rather more because they are eyecandy than because they can sing.

My Interests

VIOLET UK

Something I care about, though have done sadly little about publicly lately (and that image I made in 2006, when that sad 25th anniversary actually happened):
Tokyo time: LA time: Utrecht time:

I'd like to meet:

Since Mark said I could / should add pictures to my profile as well, and I complimented him on those on his. ;)
And because I'd really like to meet them, naturally.

I'd like to see Yoshiki's current project happen, too:

And if people don't recognized themselves on my profile, that's all Lee's fault, because he gave me that link for the friends space customization editor.

Well, he's also become a victim himself. ;)
But anyone who REALLY doesn't like the change, please PM me and I'll change it back. .

Music:

Just a few, there's a lot more where those came from . . .

Movies:

Not much time to watch them and not all that great an interest either, lately. The vast majority of movies that I truly like tend to be old, from before the days when everything had to be PG14 and dumped down to the least common determinator, so that Hollyweird studios can make maximum profit.
I do like Film Noir - The Maltese Falcon and such - though and Le Samourai, the latter partly because despite its being French it's in the Noir tradition and partly because the young Alain Delon was damned sexy. Almost as sexy as certain of my favourite Japanese guys . . .
Actually, the "Noire" in my nick comes from my liking of this particular mystery genre.

Television:

News and documentaries mostly, analytical stuff.
If I have time to watch - or watch the things I tape - it tends to be mind engaging things, GOOD mystery, fantasy, science fiction. Or even semi science faction.

Books:

Way too many to list.
In genre, history (especially from "the other side"), psychology, politics, sociology, anthropology, archeology, unassorted books on anything scientific that catches my interest. And good mystery, fantasy and science fiction again. I'm on and off working on writing a mystery of my own, but while the story's all done in my mind, there never seems to be enough time to get it on paper. And when it does, it's never as perfect as it is in my mind.
