JaME evolved from JrockFrance.com which began in 1999 alongside the Visual Keifanzine “Prototypeâ€. In 2001, the website took over from the fanzine and began toexpand, before merging with www.jpopfrance.com. Due to popula- rity and rapid growth,in 2003 a joint project involving con- tributors from France, Italy, Poland andGermany was star- ted. The first incarnation of JmusicEuropa.com was born. Theexpanded association JaME (Japanese Music Entertain-ment) began in 2004. The purposeof JaME was to try and promote Japanese contemporary music through the developmentand creation of various media forms related to Japanese music. JaME also aimed tomake links with Japanese artists to organise/co-organise concerts in Europe. Thisin turn naturally led to JaME providing connections between Japanese artists andEuropean promoters/distributors to assist with concert organisation and/orsponsorship as well as working to distribute Japanese music throughout Europe.
