Donovan

House was built on Acid. Not Martini's!

About Me

Donovan, a pioneer and merry prankster of the NW Underground, started in the summer of 1989 by throwing one of Seattle’s first warehouse parties “the Acid Test”. Donovan went on to found and promote the legendary Chocolate Factory and Groove-a-licious Love Tribe “Lish House” parties (93-95) with close friends. Feeling the groove, led him naturally behind the decks. The inspiration for his sound comes from these early times, "listening to Garth & Jeno, the Peace Frog and Wicked parties, Ernie Munson, Spun, Donald Glaude & the Under Ground, Back to Basics, King Theater, these are my roots."His diverse style incorporates deep, funky, and quirky grooves with chuggy tech-house, acid brain melters, and rare old classics, creating his own unique “TrippyHouse” sound.Over the years Donovan has gained great respect and a strong following for consistantly playing crowd rocking sets, and for his infectious, rowdy energy behind the decks at his many prominent residencies, such as Contour, Bohemian, USC’s Heaven, Noiselab, The Chapel, and his TrippyHouse events. Over the years he’s continued to play at the notorious Habana's/Larry’s/Noc Noc afterhours where he can be heard in the very early morning hours, pumping out 2 & 3 hour sets for the “no rest for the wicked” party people. Complete maddness! He has headlined along side Jon Auquaviva, Layo and Bushwaka, Jeno, Miss Honey Dijon, Kazell and many others. In 2003 he played for Ministry of Sound in Seattle with Jerry Bonham, and went to Antwerp Belgium to play at CODE. Curently Donovan keeps a more casual schedule playing out of state, and at his residencies. When he’s not out playing to the people, Donvan spends most of his time in the TrippyHouse production studio. 2007 finds Donovan working on more for release on his own TrippyHouse recordings label.
