Lister was formed in december 2005 by guitarists Björn Kr. Bragason and Hjalti Kristbjörnsson and drummer DavÃð Hafstein. Soon afterwards bassist Smári Roach Gunnarsson and singer GÃsli Freyr Eggertsson completed the line-up. The band immediately started working on their own brand of hard rock, inspired by rock ranging the full scale from the Beatles to death metal. Around Easter 2006 DavÃð left the band to seek a more vintage sounding project, soon replaced by Eyþór Þorgeirsson, cementing the lineup.
In June the band recorded their first demo, unfortunately a very crappy one, but two songs from that recording still went into circulation on the Internet. The rest of the summer of 2006 was rather slow as the whole band was hardly ever at rehearsal at the same time.
Come Autumn '06, the band was back in action, and played their first show on October 7th. But by that time Hjalti had already announced his imminent departure from the band after that show due to personal reasons. He had already found his own replacement though, his old bandmate from Xanax named Jón Guðni Pétursson, who attended his first jam session with the band the day BEFORE Hjalti left. The band played it's first show with Jón Guð on November 25th 2006, to the near-deaf ears of Icelandic death metal fans. The band also sent in a song for the Eurovision song contest preselection, but was declined by the Icelandic song contest committee, who obviously doesn't want to win that contest.
The year 2007 started with a bang, with shows at various pubs in Reykjavik, but in March the band retreated from the live scene for a while to focus on recording a decent demo. When this is written the band is still busy working on the new demo.
