Trona is no doubt a key player in the American nu-skool breaks movement. Liberian born, Trona, was introduced to dance music at a very young age - oddly in the small college town of Greenville, North Carolina. Although heavily dominated by hip-hop, North Carolina’s scene was also a hot spot for some of the east coast’s biggest underground parties in the mid to late 90’s, hosted by artists like Micro, Dieselboy, Frankie Bones, and Charles Feelgood..

Trona is known for his bass-heavy, nu-skool break beat selections. In 2003, Trona was deemed the “future of domestic break beat” by Mixer magazine, and went on to gain additional notoriety for his edgy and progressive productions. The early part of Trona’s career found him remixing tracks for Icelandic pop group Gus Gus and collaborating with artists like Cirrus. His initial releases, “Dirty Pretty Picture” and “Dangerous” went to the top of International DJ charts and since then, he has shared stages with broken beat colleagues including Uberzone, General Midi, Meat Katie, The Bassbin Twins, Hyper, etc. In addition to that, Crystal Method, an early influence for Trona, featured him as a guest on their Indie 103 “Community Service” radio show. You might also recognize Trona’s tracks from having appeared on TV, and blockbuster game titles for Xbox, Playstation, and Gamecube.

’Sound System’ is Trona’s debut artist album with System Recordings and has a classic feel that has been compared to the likes of The Prodigy, Crystal Method, and Chemical Brothers. Tracks like “Jaded Love” and “Lights Go Out” are smooth and synthy with a Dirty Vegas-esque quality. “Don’t Remember” is another stand out single with an underground feel, and funky, thought-provoking lyrics. ’Sound System’ will be hitting the streets on February 26, 2008
