Torn
Arcola Theatre - 24th June to 2nd August
You got the Whites – they're a collective. Then there's the Asians – they're unified. And then there's us. Divided. It's deep.'
Two London lovers.
One African.
One West-Indian.
What's the problem?
Follow your heart or honour your family?
After the cult success of its work-in-progress production at Arcola Studio 2 last year, Torn transfers to the main house with an updated script and a new creative team. Kelle Bryan (Eternal), Jocelyn Jee Esien (Little Miss Jocelyn) and Wil Johnson (Waking the Dead) lead an all-star cast.
Sharp-tongued, witty, provocative and bold, Torn tells familiar story of star-crossed lovers against an unfamiliar backdrop - inter-racial conflict in our black communities.

Kéllé Bryan born March 12th in East London was sure of her future in entertainment from an early age - winning a junior Miss World competition at only two years old.
Aged 11, she joined the prestigious Italia Conti School, where she completed 8 years of performing arts and qualified as a dance teacher.
One night whilst clubbing (under age!), Kéllé and her schoolmate Louise Redknapp met Denis Ingoldby, a music producer, who was in the midst of forming a girl band. She auditioned and that band later became ‘Eternal’ – Britain’s most successful R&B group of all time, who went on to achieve 15 top 15 hits, several Brit Award nominations, MOBO’s, Smash Hits and Britannia Music Awards to mention but a few.
Over 9 million album sales, 4 world tours and a solo top 15 hit later, Kéllé moved on to pastures new and presented her own music show: the BAFTA nominated “N-listâ€.
In 2000, Kéllé started in an entirely new direction and trained for two triumphant kickboxing fights and the great honour of becoming a celebrity patron of the St Thomas Lupus Trust .
2005 saw Kéllé return to her roots and first passion: acting. Kéllé has appeared in popular soaps Eastenders and The Bill and recently completed work on her first film ‘The Virus’ (Chris Holden films), due for release in 2007.
After spending the Summer of 2006 gracing our screens on ITV's "Love Island", where she finished in second place, Kelle returned to her first love: theatre. After playing Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady" at the Manchester Palace Theatre, Kéllé went on to star in John Godber's critically acclaimed "Bouncers" and "The Brothers" by Angie Le Mar, as well as delighting audiences young and old, playing the title role in Cinderella in Telford and Buxton.
Kéllé flexed her presenting muscles for the first time since 2000's "The N-List" by hosting the "Urban Music Awards" in 2006 and ITV's interactive quiz show "Glitterball" in 2007.
