Influences: I grew up on hip-hop, reggae and soca. As I got older my tastes began to diversify. Now my bag of influences also includes rock, drum and bass, trip-hop, jazz, and house music just to name a few genres. There are not many individuals or groups that I consider direct influences, but whenever I work on a broken beat track, Bugz in the Attic is not far from my mind.
Sounds Like: It seems that among those familiar with Ahd Child's music, the main expectation is the unexpected. When questioned about his sound, this is what he had to say:"I guess I'm hard to classify because I don't really see the boundaries of genre as hard coded. I might learn something new while working on a house song and decide to use it on the next hip-hop instrumental that I do. On top of that, I push myself to experiment. Often I'll start a project with plans to change one specific thing I usually do. I think that is the key to keeping your sound constantly evolving and ultimately fresh. One of my musical goals is to bring a fresh sound to hip-hop which I believe has become stagnant in many ways."
