Playing drums, spending quality time with family and friends, Internet, dining out, and at this point spending all the time I can building my rehearsal studio . I've also recently taken up tennis again.
My wife and I keep a small circle of close friends, most of whom are also HSP and childfree, although we don't discriminate. If you have something in common with me or would otherwise like to drop me a line, please do! However, I will decline all "blind requests" to be added as a friend. (I'm not a "friend collector.") I also tend to keep my "friends" list pared down to people I have met or personally (or at least interacted with online).
Mostly progressive metal, but sometimes contemporary jazz, ambient, and new age if it fits. Favorites include prog metal genre defining Dream Theater , Fates Warning , Queensrÿche , San Francisco Bay Area based prog rockers Enchant (who are the nicest, friendliest, most hospitable, and most genuine group of guys you can ever hope to come across!), Kamelot , Metallica (just their stuff from back in the '80s), Evanescence , Depeche Mode , Kansas , up-and-comers 3 from Woodstock, Symphony X , the extremely talented and equally extremely underrated Redemption , an awesome group out of Germany called Sieges Even , Norweigan prog metal rockers Circus Maximus , and UK-based Threshold .
Dramas, comedies, foreign. Fair warning: I can recite most of "Office Space" and "Airplane!" I've decided that even though I like movies, I've come to hate "going OUT to the movies. People are so friggin' rude and disrespectful. Last time I went to the theater with my wife and parents, I tolerated the ill-behaved obnoxious runt sitting behind us and smacking our seatbacks for an hour or so, after which I finally turned around and sternly but respectfully told him to knock it off, and then his (presumably) father threatened me! That was it for me. Why should I pay outrageous amounts of money for bad popcorn, flat sodas, an uncomfortable seat, and a sticky floor, when I can have a superior experience at home on my recliner sofa and big screen TV? Can I get an "Amen, brother" on that?!
24 , Penn & Teller: Bullshit! , Everybody Hates Chris , The Office , anything with John Stossel , Strictly Sex with Dr. Drew , and pretty much anything on HDTV.
Newspapers, technology magazines, and other non-fiction stuff. I generally don't read fiction.
Musically speaking, one of the best (if not the best) drummers in the world, Mike Portnoy , and the rest of Dream Theater !
