Hi this is Velveteen. I am an RNB / HIP HOP DJ from Surrey in the UK. I love a good party! I love life and live it to the max! No regrets! I am confident in my own skin and I am positive about my future, it excites me! Happiness is important to me, as are education and personal achievement, and the well-being and success of those close to me. I am qualified in law, and this is still my day job! I studied for a masters degree in International Law and I am deeply concerned about human right's law. I am a member of the Human Rights Lawyers Association and I commend them for what they stand for.When I'm not working, I love dj'ing and clubbing. I go the gym at least three times a week, very addictive, and there is no better feeling than leaving the gym after a good solid workout! I love swimming. Every week without fail I am there at my local competition pool. I like taking care of myself and being healthy with what I consume. I love beautiful things too of course, however I also have appreciation and consideration for them. I enjoy the company of people who have something interesting to say. I read a lot. I love Ben Okri, I am crazy about Mental Fight and I would recommend it. I take a copy to work everyday. It is a permanent fixture in my briefcase. I am interested in law of course and politics, more so that of developing countries. I find it more interesting as there is such a need for reform.I am actually a very simple girl. By this I am referring to what makes me happy and what is truly important to me in life.The one thing I want from life is to be a good role model and an inspiration. I want to make a difference in this world , particularly in Latin America, my spiritual home. My parents hail from La Paz, Bolivia in South America, a country landlocked by Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile and Peru. I want to make a difference and campaign for legal development in the judicial systems in Latin America, particularly disappearance cases, extra-judicial execution cases, torture cases, false accusations of subverse activities and violations to economic and cultural rights. I am also deeply concerned about police brutality and corruption in Brazil. I envision opening law centres there, creating awareness of basic civil liberties. A place where the less privileged can go to in order to seek professional legal advice that is accessible to them. Synonymous to Citizens Advice Bureau's and local law centres that we have over here, normally operating as a charity, where one can get impartial legal advice.I must add that Latin America is an extraordinary place, rich and colourful in culture I love it! I could imagine living in Brazil and happily!I am currently presenting a campaign to the Commission for Racial Equality. I am disconcerted when I come across ethnic monitoring forms and having to tick the 'other' box. I do not appreciate being non-descript. These forms appear to have omitted two entire continents i.e. Central and South America. There is a growing latino community in the UK who should be recognised as latino or hispanic.
