Sondre Justad is a singer-songwriter from north in Norway. He was born in Lofoten Hospital, the fifteenth of October, 1990. He was raised at Borg –famous for the beautiful Viking-Museum- and in Henningsvær – the origin of the Lofot-salmon. Both places are in Lofoten.
At the age of 13, he began to write his own songs. At the time, he only knew some basic chords on the piano, but still managed to get together the song called â€Blind.†In the beginning of 2004, Sondre contacted Teigen-studios, which turned out to be a very nice acquaintance. Fall 2004, Sondre went alone to Teigenstudio in Oslo, to record â€Blind.†This didn’t only give Sondre contacts at the Norwegian music scene; the experience taught him a lot and inspired him to develop further as a musician and led to him buying his first guitar some years later and starting to write songs more rapidly, accompanied by his guitar-playing.
Fall 2006, Sondre moved from The Islands of Lofoten to Bodø, in order to educate himself by Bodø elementary school, where he could attend a musically orientated study, and that has led to him playing loads of concerts, accompanied by band as well as by himself. His reception in Bodø was very good, and the powers of the cosy local music scene has taken good care of him.
December, 2006, Sondre brought some musicians to Hønsehuset Lydstudio, and under stressed circumstanses made his first EP, intented for christmas presents to his friends and his family.
However, it wasn’t before March 2007 he began to play accompanied by a full band. He wanted to attend the Rock Mot Rus-festival at Andenes – a festival where bands, from famous- to underground bands, play music and make a statement against drugs- with his songs in a band arrangement. So he did, and the experience left him wanting more. Since then, he’s played several conserts with the band. After spending a couple of weeks in the studio, he released his first album 20. June with the same musicians.
The CD was entitled †Virkelighetsflukt†(An escape from reality) and contains 7 songs- English, as well as Norwegian. The surplus of the sale goes directly to the foundation Casa Emanuel. Casa Emanuel is working with the orphaned stray kids in Brazil.
Sondre’s music is characterised as a Singer/songwriter kind of Pop/rock, soft ballades and Northern Norwegian folk song. Some of the songs are also effected by Sondres engagement in society issues.
Sondre’s band crew is made up of quite young musicians, most of which resides in Bodø City. The brothers Petter and Kristoffer Unstad contribute with bass and electric guitar. Thomas Litangen also plays electric guitar, and Peter Robertsen puts it all together with his drumming. Related to other projects, Sondre has used musicians like Emilie Tverbak and Silje Halstensen for backup vocals, Johannes Winther Farstad at Piano and Synth, Miriam Rintelen playing the sax, Rakel Nystabakk the trumpet, Julia Sivertsen the Cello and Hogne Aasjord contributing with drums and percussions.
