The Global Awareness Project
The theme for this event is titled, “Jewels of the South.” Each artist in the festival is a bright light, a glimmering Jewel making their little corners of the world (or their 10x10 tent at the festival!) a beautiful and organic place for our attendees to visit and explore. The end result at the festival will be a beautiful strand of visual and sensory delights. Please join us October 17th-19th!! “Jewels of the South” Folk Art Festival is a fundraising event presented by the Global Awareness Project (GAP), a non-profit organization located in Myrtle Beach, SC. GAP is a 501c3 organization whose mission is to create awareness for other charitable organizations using the arts as a vehicle. All proceeds from the event will be donated to GAP’s non-profit promotional calendar project. The calendar highlights twelve area non-profit organizations, lists their mission statements, contact information and event schedule for the year. Their 2009 calendar is themed “What’s Your Cultural Vision?” and the artwork for the calendar is being supplied by art students at the Academy for Arts, Science and Technology. On Friday evening, October 17th , the students work will be judged by a panel of local artists and the fifteen prints that will be used in the calendar will be selected. For more information about GAP please visit their website: www.theglobalawarenessproject.org
