Native of Los Angeles, raised surrounded by the entertainment business which her mother was part of, living in Montreal for nearly 20 years.A professional singer of 35 years, she has performed in Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC, Toronto, Montreal, Paris, Morocco, Indonesia, Holland, and Japan.Her roots are of Jazz. Her influence comes from all types of music: Motown, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Blues and more recently Rap, Reggae and even the raves of the 2nd Millennium. It is evident in the songs she composes, arranges and plays at this stage of her career.Being very versatile, Ms Strawn is also a professional actress of film with over 20 movie credits to her name. She has worked with the likes of Patty Duke, Alan Alda, Catherine Denevue, Danny Glover, Pam Grier, William Hurt to name a few. She has theatre credits which include Ododo, The Big Mama Thornton Story, The Owl and the Pussycat, Barnum, The Children of Kush ( a rap opera) plus 7 years of touring Children's Theatre across the province of Quebec (Canada).Now living In Ottawa Amanda has formed the Amanda Strawn Trio. With Ivan Matte and Larry Wayne Church. Getting back to her toos of jazz and blues, but with a touch of flava that only she can cook up.
