About Me

Everything you are about to read is slightly outdated, but I need to find my funny hat before I find a way to recraft it all to reflect a few big changes in my life...Once upon a time, a young boy named Sean discovered he could get sent free stuff if he'd just sell his soul to entertainment. From free promo CDs while working at a record store to free concert tickets while working for a local radio station, Sean eventually got greedy and started up the online magazine ZENtertainment in May of '95 as a way to get books and movie tickets and toys and games too.
It was a very dark period for the entire land. Sean single-handedly controlled the fate of the entertainment industry from his bedroom, and the stories of those days and nights would make even Robert Evans blush.
Perhaps Sean flew too close to the sun, or perhaps he lost his day job and knew age 30 was around the corner and he needed a change, but Sean eventually put the magazine on hold to go to culinary school, where he got a fancy Blue Ribbon medallion and Le Cordon Bleu certification plaque to hang over his stove, and some not-so-fancy student loans. But the researched essays he'd have to write each night about food made him long for the days of writing what new movie such-and-such actress had just signed on to, and after a few months in the kitchen he knew he'd never have another free weeknight or holiday to himself ever again. And besides... The free stuff stopped coming in the mail.
So he escaped. With the aid of a rag-tag crew, he was brought aboard as an editor of CFQ/Cinefantastique Magazine, and its sister publication, Femme Fatales . This past summer, Sean took over as editor-in-chief on CFQ, the world's longest-running genre magazine, and has spent every issue since working to hip up the thing, in hopes of alienating the loyal die-hards to the magazine of old. The company also makes some fun films. You can hear him growl as a zombie all throughout House of the Dead 2 , and he even appears in the opening credits for a whole 1/16th of a second. Don't blink!!!
During the 2 hours a day Sean isn't working or sleeping, he is with his trusted confident and companion, Aspen, a beautiful huskie who he's thinking about passing off as one of the dogs from Eight Below to impress the other dogs at the local dog park. Aspen doesn't know it yet, but we're also expecting the arrival of a 6-week-old huskie in the coming months...
He spends any other free time living vicariously through the contestants he watches each day on Blind Date and Next, eating Sprinkles Cupcakes, listening to the Al Franken Show podcasts, theorizing about what's going on the island on Lost, designing a stopwatch that can stop time, daydreaming about candy, preparing for the inevitable attack against humankind by zombies and/or robots and/or mimes, waiting for each day's mail to come because it's like getting daily presents, chewing on pens, and wondering why he's not eating more Sprinkles Cupcakes.
Now that I've actually updated the place a little bit, you can also find more of me online at my Angelfire homepage .

I'd like to meet:

... a monkey I didn't like... As for people, it's rare that I meet anyone here online, rather, it's a good place to keep the slightest semblance of contact with friends and acquaintances whom I likely speak with far too rarely. But if you happen to have a monkey, I am so there!

Music:

Movies:

I tend to see things as they are released on DVD these days, but personally, my guilty pleasure has always been the teen comedy, the more John Hughsey the better.
Pretty in Pink, Election, Can't Buy Me Love, Say Anything, Rushmore, Goonies, Cruel Intentions, Breakfast Club, Better Off Dead, Pretty Persuasion, 10 Things I Hate About You, Dude Where's My Car?, Ferris Bueller, Go, One Crazy Summer, SLC Punk, Some Kind of Wonderful, Splendor, War Games, Weird Science, Zapped!...
Other favorites include 28 Days Later, Evil Dead, Phantasm, Night/Day/Dawn of the Dead, Bodysnatchers, Grace of My Heart, Magnolia, eXistenZ, Secretary, The Limey, Mullholland Drive, Fletch, Caddyshack, Lonely Guy, Lost in America, Real Genius, Nightmare Before Christmas, Trainspotting, Harold & Maude, Annie Hall, Bob Roberts, The Last Party, 2046, Syriana

Television:

I'm a recovering TV-holic... There was a time when I was watching pretty much everything for work, but now it seems I'm leaving my TV off for days at a time. That said, I swear by Lost, and don't trust people who don't see it's brilliance. The Office and 30 Rock are also up there, as is a new favorite, Pushing Daisies. I'm glued to the 24-hour news networks during the day at work and love the roundtable debates every Sunday on This Week and Meet the Press...I once killed a man because he gave my TiVo a dirty look.

Books:

I love to read and lately, with my long drives to work, I've been loving Audiobooks. Reading Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover and Suze Orman's Young, Broke and Fabulous recently has changed my life, but here's a list of other must-reads...
