About Me

In addition to Raleigh club dates, studio sessions and festival shows past and present, Mike was reviewed by "BlueSpeak" Magazine, an online music magazine based in Memphis TN . Mike also had his work reviewed by "Bamboo Music" and was featured on "Five Feathers Music" online showcase.----- Music and the Arts have always been a passion for Mike. Growing up in New York, attending art school on the upper east side of Manhattan by day, hanging out in New York City rock clubs at night, Mike had the good fortune of living in the music and cultural center of the world. Completely self taught and Influenced by Blues, Nu-Jazz, Rock and modern Country music, Mike's guitar style, although rooted in blues, is hard to pigeonhole. Of course you'll be able to hear the british blues influence in Mike's solos. But, listen a little more closely, and you will hear the melodic lines of a smooth jazz saxophone player, or licks of a contemporary latin-jazz guitarist, some heavy retro rock riffs, and even some new country style pickin'. Never one to imitate, Mike takes what he can from his influences, but makes it his own with signature phasing, vibrato and tone. More bio info and updates will be coming in the coming weeks of 2007.-------------------------------------------------SOME REVIEWS:-----------Warren Wilson, BlueSpeak Magazine Memphis, TN--------"When I first saw Mike play at a fairly upscale club in downtown Raleigh, my first impression was that he seemed sharper and less self-indulgent than the heavily SRV-inspired sound of the guitarist who preceded him on stage. Performing alongside two good horn players, Mike needed to be sharp. He succeeded, while exhibiting some powerful flashes of the Mike Gallo Id see more of in the coming week."---"The following Wednesday, I found Mike at a cozier venue where he had a better chance to showcase his talents. Mike was on. His opening cover of a blues standard was upbeat and thrilling, and he simply smoked on his closing tune. The British influence, which Mike attributes largely to Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Robin Trower and Gary Moore, is evident in his solos. The players, friends and onlookers at this fairly diverse downtown venue loved it. The host was ready to bring on another act after Mikes short set, but the crowd demanded one more."-----------Marvin Taylor, FiveFeathersMusic Atlanta, GA---"Excellent work. What can I say, You are a fine player with great ideas and great tone. Im just blown away. This is by far the best thing weve seen. Congratulations again on a fantastic job."------------------Ken Weigand, BamBoo Music Raleigh, NC----"A feature of our website under musicians is a way for established players to find work and for that rare undiscovered talent to surface. A recent CD came to our attention as a demo from Mike Gallo. Any good musician will tell you its not only about the production value, its about the performance and the display of taste that sells a demo, a song, an artist...and its all displayed on this amazing demo. You need to hear this cat scratch out some killer smooth guitar chops.
