About Me

After being introduced to the house music scene via mix tapes from the Hacienda in 1991, DJ Michael Park was bitten by the house music bug. Michaels passion for his music has progressed from funk, hip hop, disco, garage, and techno to the US, UK and European house scene. A dedicated versatile DJ with wide musical experience and knowledge, capable of using creative mixing skills to motivate and control in a positive mode. Finding his home in the US, UK and European house scene citing influences from Graeme Parks mixing style and music he quickly found himself buying records and DJ'ing at private parties for friends and like minded people. After playing at various commercial clubs in his home town of Pontefract West Yorks in the early to mid nineties he decided it was time to move to a more underground scene in Leeds, where he could play his beloved house music. In 1995 Michael first got recognition for his mixing skills when The Foundry in Huddersfield launched their DJ competition, where out of 200 or so entrants and 6 weekly heats Michael came a very worthy second place. Then in 1998 DJ magazine launches their prestigious Redemption DJ competition where Michael was picked to play at one of their Northern heats winning second place. In 1999 Michael entered the Phoenix DJ competition which he went on to win gaining him a slot at The Foundation club in (Wakefield), also that same year he entered Music magazines bedroom bedlam competition wining a very worthy first place. The following year in ..he Perfect Beat (Doncaster) in conjunction with Rhythm Nation Records Doncaster launches their DJ competition which after two intensive heats Michael had yet again won another DJ competition. In 2001 Michael along with his brother and a couple of friends collaborated together under the name of Collective Rhythm to make keep it come which got its first airing on Galaxy 105 when then DJ Alex Pepper played on his evening show. Since then Michael has rapidly become a familiar name within the Leeds club scene playing at the Arthur Baker owned Elbow Rooms (Leeds), The Foundation (Wakefield) and Change at The Mint Club (Leeds). Michael has DJed at various other clubs in the city such as Faversham, Mission, Fibre, Heaven and Hell, Space, and The Warehouse. Michael has Dj'd alongside such people as Herd & Fitz, Ian Carey, Raul Rincon, Graeme park, DJ Buckley, Howard Donald, Jazzy M, Farley Jack Master Funk, Rob Tissera, Boy George, and Alistair Whitehead to name but a few.. Michael music style is energetic, funky and uplifting, and is also known to throw in the odd classic to keep it different. Michaels highlights of 2005 were when he played at Love Leeds @ Lotherton Hall in June where 10,000 clubbers came together for one amazing party. Michael and Mark Park (the Funky Punks) were in the Kiss Da Fed arena and they started the night off with a bang, getting the 3,000 plus capacity rockin!!!
