Courage is simply the willingness to be afraid, and act anyway

About Me

I adore the smell of Camel Lights in the summer time. Always have my bean in a coffee cup next to my seat. Catch the view and another good book to read. I like to roll the window down, and turn the radio up, always one for pushing the pedal to the ground. I like to gaze at starry skies, close my eyes and pretend to fly. I am in love with the feeling that washes over me when staring at a million city lights. I like to get away and drown my pain in lemonade. I dream of rainy days, and coffe cake by the fireplace, and aimless conversations about the better days. I hate the sound that goodbye's make. I would change everything for happy ever after. I am just the way I am, and someone told me once that was alright.
I am an activist for American Indian Rights. (This may get a little complicated, so bare with me as I try to cover as much as I can to the best of my abilites.) March, rally, demo, write, talk, and blog. Whatever way I can get my voice heard by anyone, I will attempt. I don't support the use of mascots for entertainment purposes at the expense of the Native culutre. Native mascots are disrespectful, and stand for nothing but ignorance of the history that makes up "America." Stereotyping is wrong, but I understand it is inevitable. Especially, if a person was never given the option, or opportunity, to be taught the truth. The people Indigenous to America do not walk around naked holding a tomahawk, all the while pronouncing a battle cry fanning their hand over the mouth. It is not realized by the majority that the people Indigenous to this land DO live in the 21st century. There is a lack of American Indian Education being taught to the children (our future) in this country. I strongly believe if there is to be a change in the future, there has to be a change in the type of eduaction that is being taught to the present - Teach the Truth! The history between the government and the people Indigenous to America has been a battle of unfair bloody treatment, and, it is still going on to this day! I've come to the realization (from influence and dicussions with friends) that the past is not the past at all. It is still very much here among us, and while movements have paved the way and started a change, there is still much to be done!
I follow the case of Leonard Peltier, and I don't agree with the reasons why Mr. Peltier is being held. He is being wrongly accused in the killing of two FBI agents that occured over 30 years ago, and still faces unjust incarceration. It has been proven under more than one circumstance that Mr. Peltier is, infact, innocent. Time and Time again, an appeal has been denied. Files of information, regarding his innocence, are being held in FBI pocession. The denial of access to Mr. Peltier, (and his attorneys) to see these files is an attack on any rights he holds as a citizen. Have you heard of the Freedom of Information Act? To give a brief description, it is exactly what it states. The Department of Justice is required to disclose records requested in writing, or by person. Basically..it is a law ensuring public access to U.S. government records. The Freedom to Inform has been denied to Mr. Peltier. He's a political prisoner, and is being held due to his threatning stance against the government and the war it has against the Indigenious People's of America, Canada, and Mexico.
