I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

..
Myspace Layout Generator by TheMyspaceLayout.com
I'm a freelance photographer in search of worthwhile projects. I'd like to meet and network with other photographers, journalists and those with similar interests. When I have more time I will be doing some blog writing. I take copyright seriously and register my work with the US Copyright Office.
Meeting new people/friends on myspace has been very interesting. I have many interests and wish to keep my friend circle reflective of those interests. I change/rotate my top friends around to promote their upcoming events and interesting pages. So, I hope no one will be upset when their icons are rotated to make room for others on my top friends space.I am also an avid baseball fan and going to a game -- whether or not I'm shooting it -- is one of my favorite things to do.
I am currently working on an ongoing long-term project documenting the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals and visiting Texas League Double-A baseball teams.
The environment and state of our planet are important and I am making changes in my life that support green living. My next car will be an important decision to reflect that transition. I remember the first "Earth Day" on April 22,1970 when I joined other students in a five mile walk to school.
I love my bicycle -- Electra Townie 21 -- and love the Ozarks Greenway Trails -- linear parks. This birthday present to myself may be the single most positive thing I've done for myself in a very long time. Here's to long rides on peaceful trails. :o)
Please check back for changes and new additions to "My" space.
You can see more of my work here -- updated often: http://www.sportsshooter.com/members.html?id=550
Slide show is in transition -- MUCH more to add . . .

If you don't vote, you can't complain.

My Interests

Photography is my main interest. Others are: Music -- can't live without it, travel, our planet, sports--especially Cardinals baseball, hiking and exploring nature, riding my Electra Townie and listening to Coast to Coast AM with George Noory.I also love gadgets. One of my favorite magazines is Wired.

I'd like to meet:

Other photographers and cool people that have their shit together. People interested in helping others, our planet, green living, the quality of our food, peace and harmony with others. Those special people who bring about positive change. A few photographers whose work I admire: Mary Ellen Mark, James Nachtwey, Lauren Greenfield, Annie Leibovitz, Mary Ellen Mark, National Geographic photographers, and Sports Illustrated/Sporting News photographers . . .I would also love to meet and photograph guitar genius Joe Satriani.

Music:

Lots of favorites and it depends on my mood what I listen to - I love great lyrics and kick ass guitar.

My current favorites: I love Joe Satriani! Nickleback, Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Sheryl Crow, Bob Seger, Lionel Richie, Lenny Kravitz, Mark Knopfler. . . I like some country . . . Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Trace Adkins . . . smooth jazz and some new age - Craig Chaquico, Kitaro, Mars Lasar, Cusco, Michael Gettel, Nicholas Gunn, David Arkenstone . . .

Movies:

The Eleventh Hour ( http://wip.warnerbros.com/11thhour/ ) and Sicko are two of my current favorites. Other favorites include: Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth and The Secret, Dreamer, The Natural, Ghost, The Horse Whisperer, Medicine Man, Dances with Wolves, A River Runs Through It, The Firm, Top Gun, An Officer and a Gentleman, City of Angels, Falling Down, Contact, Titanic, Tin Cup, For Love of the Game . . .

Television:

I set the DVR for a few shows: Grey's Anatomy, Lost, House and CBS News Sunday Morning (I love their coverage of the arts--music and photography.) I also love the National Geographic channel, Travel channel and current.tv.

One of my all time favorite TV shows is the Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan -- still cool after 30 years as a cult classic. My fascination with this program began in 1977 or 1978 when it aired on PBS in Phoenix. Arizona State University used this program in a sociology class. A remake of the series would be very cool.

Books:

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle, MoneyBall, just about anything by Dr. Wayne Dyer.

I'm very busy and currently only have time for reading newspapers, magazines and books on photography. Digital Photo Pro, Sports Illustrated, Wired and Vanity Fair are some of my favorites.

Heroes:

Gordon Parks (see above blog)

AZ Cardinals offensive lineman Pat Tillman, who gave up a pro-football contract offer of $3.6 million to join the military eight months after the 9/11 attacks. Tillman was killed in Afghanistan in 2004.

Galen Rowell, who's awesome photographs graced the pages of Outdoor Photographer Magazine and fueled my interest in outdoor and nature photography.

Lance Armstrong for his courage, determination and awesome accomplishments.

Dr. Wayne Dyer for his wonderful books, tapes.

I just came across this wonderful writing by Christian D. Larson and even though I posted it in a bulletin I think it is worthwhile posting it as a blog also. If everyone worked toward this as a pers...

Baseball time again . . . I love this game

There is just something about the crack of a bat (or the ping - NCAA) and hearing the crowd cheer as the ball sails over the center field wall. The sounds of the vendors selling their goodies and the...

Nature - renewing the spirit

October is one of my favorite months. After a hectic summer I really needed to find a quiet place -- which seems to be harder in this noisy world of ours. Finding beauty in nature is just what I neede...

Heroes - Gordon Parks

I've been thinking about what to write in the Heroes section of my profile. Of all the people that have shaped my passion for photography, Gordon Parks is one who has left a lasting impression on me....
