Global Virus is a clubnight in Derry City ,N.Ireland dedicated to
pushing the sound of Drum n Bass + Breakbeat in the North West of
Ireland.
The night also caters for local
electronica djs who deserve a crack at the whip.
GV the brainchild of Hago was formed in September 2003 after seeing a
steady growth of friends getting interested in the sound of DnB.It
primarily started as a Drum n Bass night but after a few gigs it was
noticeable to Hago that the City of Derry was nowhere near ready for a
full on Drum n Bass night.On October 2003 Hago heard local Dj Jonny Boy
playin Breakz at a house party and straight away asked him to play at a
Halloween Party hosted by GV and the now sadly defunct Fresh
Records.Absolutely amazed by Jonnys mixing capabilities and dance floor
destroying ability he asked Jonny to be warm up dj playin Breakz before
the Jungle djs took over.The move worked very well and has seen Jonny
playing DnB sets and Hago playing Breakz sets.
3 years down the line and both Hago + Jonny have promised to get their
fingers out of their arses and really push what they are doin,and make
Global Virus one of the most succesful and eclectic Electronic music
nights in Ireland,promising the punters anything from downtempo
selections right thru to the Nastiest DnB available to a slowly but
surely converting fanbase in Derry City.
