About Me

------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------- IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC, PEOPLE, KNOWLEDGE AND DOIN' IT FOR THE LOVE!------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------- "It's been a long time since I started getting involved in music. I played in a few bands first then decided to do my own thing and bought decks."A versitile freestyle DJ playing everything from Hip-Hop, Funk, Breakbeat, rock, housey stuff and other gems you probably havent heard before. To begin with worked with 'Cool Discs' -owner Lee Mason gave me my first break. 'Praise' @ The Lava Lounge was my first legit freestyle night in Derry. During this period from the late 90's-2001 was lucky enough to have rocked crowds alongside an eclectic mix of heavyweight musicians and DJ's. Including Mr Scruff, Matt Cantor, Adam Freeland, Lee Coombs, Cut La Roc, Deadly Avenger and a host of others. After a move to The Nerve Centre the likes of Afrika Bambaataa, Maseo (De La Soul), Groove Armada, Ian Brown, Andy Smith (Portishead), Cutmaster Swift, Jake Wherry (Herbaliser) and Cash Money all joined forces. Between 2001-2004 I moved to Belfast, slots in the ledgendary Art College followed as well as late nights in the infamous (illegal) Brunswick and the Crescent Art's centre. These included the Belfast Festival and 'Imagine Belfast'. Have also played a few times at Celtronic, ireland's premier electronic music festival not to mention countless smaller gigs across the north. Also been lucky enough to warm up for super-producer RJD2 as well as Drum 'n Bass legends LTJ Bukem And MC Conrad. Besides this I have promoted nights featuring Andy Smith, Mex (Black Grass-Catskills) and Radio 1's Tim Westwood. In recent years: have spun regularly at the eclectic night 'Bounce' in Sandinos and that's just what they did! Every gig became an event in one way or another... Just recently played my first slot in London at Andy Smiths 'Document Live Sessions' (Cargo) it was one to remember! Since I started spinning I've been cultivating a production style and finding my feet as a musician with a sampler. Years of diggin'/downloading and playing with talented people have shaped my sound. "In reality it's all about ideas and working with the right people to make them happen"

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: My space!
Band Members: It's mainly me (Paul Duffy) but all these people have added something special to the tracks Conor Mason (keys), Mags Mc Intyre (vocals), Sean Furey (sax), Brian Morgan (trumpet), Jamie King (bass), Wilson Graham (bass) and the magnificent vocal/guitars of Ronan Kearney!
Influences: Tons - Stuff both old and new. From vinyl to mp3's. Jazz, FUNK, hip-hop, rock'n roll, punk, disco, some electro, some breakbeat, some house, a little reggae, many soundtracks, a bit of northern, mellow acoustic stuff, strange old records! As long as it's got soul, I guess that's why i like the term 'freestyle'. I do appreciate good design too. I also love the sounds I hear walking down the street or on the train to work- sounds of life! I've found that people can often be a great source of inspiration too. I am also very into photography (my other life!)
Sounds Like: Hip-Hop, funk, spacey, smooth, cinematic, chilled. Any suggestions? I'd appreciate any feedback
