Ben Jones was born December 15, 1983, raised on the Southeast side of Detroit. Inside Out Alumni, 2002 National Poetry Slam Champion, 2004 Oya Finalist, Michigan Humanitarian Award recipient, Founder of the Black Ink Collective, Youth Director of The Brightmoor Community, 2003 and 2005 Slam Team member, and young CEO of NeoVintageSoul a trade association of Talent, Urban Art, Studio Recording and Business in Detroit and other interested parties. His mother Danyell Waters with the help of Aurora Harris fashioned him to be the man he is. A great sum is also due to countless others especially the members of his segregate family the Black Ink Collective. While a young child, Ben discovered his love for the Arts including visual, dance,
spoken word, and Acting. His mother was very supportive along the way. As a young teen he exploded onto the national poetry scene as a phenomenal writer winning countless slams, and hosting countless Events. Today he is the producer of over 50 major spoken word / variety shows a year carving out his name as one of Detroit’s prominent promoters/producers. He also Volunteers his time to different community outreach programs, and coordinates after school activities for Detroit youth.
