Seattle’s Jake Nannery is a puzzle of sorts.
On one hand he seems right at home on stages in internationally known venues like Los Angeles’ B.B King’s, the University of Paris, and the New Orleans Super Dome with hundreds to thousands in attendance, and on the other you get the feeling he’d be happy to play just for you around a campfire with a bottle of cheap whiskey at his feet.
It’s exactly this combination of experience, talent and familiarity that makes Nannery such a thrill to watch. Even if it’s your first time at a Jake Nannery show, by the end you’ll be singing along with the crowd. Brilliantly crafted songs about everyday things, personal confession and keen observations are woven into a musical fabric of rhythms and melodies surpassing ’catchy’ so much in nature that you find yourself wondering how old this ’kid’ really is.
Now, adding Mike West behind the Kit (Formerly of Seattle’s Indie group ’Reily’ and HipHop/Funk monster ’Phathom’) and Ramon Salumbides (Ex-Bassist for Seattle’s Metal-giant ’Art Of Self Defense’ and ’Reily,’) playing the Bass Fiddle to Jake’s already characteristic raspy voice and dangerously sharp wit, a live Jake Nannery show is not to be missed.
You’ll forget what’s bothering you, have a drink or two, and by the end of the set want to buy the man himself a drink. But don’t bother trying to compliment them, you’ll just get a modest brush off and sincere "Thanks for coming out." And maybe, if you’re lucky, an invite to that campfire.
Some Rumors goin’ around about Jake...

-Tim Jensen, The Seatbelts

What jake has to say for himself...
"Traded my 8-bit nintendo for my first guitar in the 9th grade... Friends told me I’d amount to nothing and should learn to play Bass instead... fewer strings... Bought my 1st accoustic to rebel against my dad... he ended up buyin’ one of his own a year later... I’ve been known to play other peoples stuff by myself, and my own stuff with other people... I still can’t believe some of the talented musicians I’ve been fortunate enough to share a stage with. Hero’s and friends, all. too young to have a direction, too old to stop goin’ there, the style that I’ve adopted is bred more out of necessity than skill. I play what I can get away with. Amor Fati,
