LaVarnga Hubbard

La Varnga G Hubbard, affectionately known as L.A., was born and raised in the city of Chicago. She is the Third oldest of ten children. L.A. began singing at the age of nine in a small church on the southside of Chicago; Christian Doctrine Missionary Baptist Church. She has since been a member of Greater Mt. Carmel Chuch since 1989 where she served as the Minister of Music for five years, 1990-1995.L.A. has been happily married now for over 27 years, with two wonderful children who are also in ministry. You can hear her daughter Veriner (ReRe) singing on the title song of her debut CD "Nobody Else Compares To You" written by her son, Rodney Jr. It is sure to be a number one single!!With more than 20 years as an accomplished soloist, L.A. has recorded numerous songs with other great gospel artists. Among them are: "The Chicago Mass Choir Featured on WOW 2002 ("Call Him Up" which can also be heard on her debut CD!), Walter Howard & Dedicated to Christ ("My God's Got It" which was the title cut), and Bishop Larry D. Trotter & The Sweet Holy Spirit Church Choir ("I Got What I Needed"). Featured on the Bishop & Friends CD.In 1995 L.A. joined Ricky Dillard & The New Generation Chorale where she is still currently a member. She is featured on hits such as "Lift Up You Head", "Let The Redeemed Say So", and the latest chart topper which is featured on WOW 2005 CD & Live Video "Let Us All Go Back!"This powerhouse singer has shared the stage with such gospel greats as Shirley Ceasar, Dr. Charles G. Hayes & The Warriors, Walter Hawkins, LaShun Pace Rhodes, Kim Burrell, Angela Spivey, and Donald Lawrence to name a few. During her years of ministering she has been blessed to travel all around the world. It was in Germany where she poured out before the people that she adopted the name "The Duchess of Gospel".L.A. can not only sing, but she has been in several plays, some of which she was given the lead role. They include: "Wind Beneath My Wings", "Long As I Got King Jesus", and Langston Hughes' "Black Nativity", performed at the Kenwood Academy Theater.LaVarnga just finished a star roll in the New Released Play "Work It Out' This Play was schedule for 6 shows in Chicago, Il at the Aire Crown Theater July 20---July 23, 2006.On August 21, 2004, LaVarnga fufilled a lifetime dream by celebrating her 45th birthday in her first live recording session!! It was a powerful and wonderful worship experience!
