A_Nichelle whose given name is Angela Nichelle Preston (affectionately known as Angie)was born July 24 to Rev. Rita Thomas Preston & Elder Isaac E. Preston Jr.. Angela was born into a maternal legacy of music as her mother and grandmother sang and played both without formal lessons.Angela was raised on the frontline of gospel music as her mother served on one of the boards of the GMWA. If you ask her when she began to sing she can’t give an age 3 or 4 answer because she says “I never remember NOT singing" her mother says she sang even in the crib but we all know how mothers are about their babies (smile).Angela sang throughout her middle school & high school years and of course continuously in the church. Music was all around her and she says she has the most talented cousins and friends in the world so even in their play time their was FIERCE singing going on.Angela's singing beyond her home church & school began at Miracle Temple C.O.G.I.C., the Indiana South Jurisdiction (2nd) State Choir and the Gary City- Wide Workshop. Her first experience in a professional group came when she joined EVANS in 1990 under the leadership of her Brother & Friend Pharis Evans Jr.In January 1993 Angela auditioned and was accepted into Ricky Dillard’s New Generation Chorale and she then realized how broad the borders of gospel music really extended. She was blessed to travel the length and breathe of the United States and was truly blessed to tour Europe.On December 31, 1999 Angela knew her time with New G had come to and end and it was time for a transition. At the time she wasn’t quite aware of what it was but she was obedient, trusting God to make it all clear.She came off the road got fully involved in her home church and waited, served where she was needed and listened for His voice. Angela reconnected musically with her Brother/ Friend and his now company Charisma Music Group and became a member of the choir SWV (Saints with a Vision). In 2001 the Lord gave Pharis an assignment to start a choir for young people between the ages of 12- 25 and they would be called Young Saints , Angela is the Executive Administrator and it is one of her greatest joys(she loves her babies).Angela’s Pastor Rev. Dr. W. Maurice White Jr. elevated her to Minister of Music in June of 2004 and it is through this appointment she realizes that all she has learned (musically) all she has seen and all she has done was preparing her for this assignment. In December 2005 Angela went before an ordination council passed her test and was officially ordained as Minister of Music. Angela says that was the most spiritual night of her life.Out of all the places she has gone, all the people she has met and all the things she has done nothing makes her heart beat faster than the love she has for her one and only daughter Joie-Antoinette Monique Cain(#1 IN HER TOP). Angela’s world was made better and complete the day her baby girl was born, she says:” I live and strive to be a great woman one my daughter will be proud of and tell her great grandchildren about”.Angela loves to laugh and have fun and God blessed her with the greatest siblings in the world (Chrisse & I.E.P. (#’s 2 & 3 in her top) and the greatest friends (the rest of her top friends)and even though they are adults they play like children and love every minute of it. “You gotta know how to just laugh out loud and put somebody you love in a headlock sometimes”.Angela knows God has her back because Psalms 138:8 says “The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.”Angela summed up: Christian, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Sister/Friend, Best Friend, Friend, Mime (can't you just picture it)LOL, Minister of Music Christ Baptist Church, Gary, IN., Executive Administrator of Young Saints (HOLLA), Proud member of EVANS & Saints with a Vision
