Old Country and blues from the 30's and 40's. R&B from the 40's. Hank Williams (Grandaddy, that is). Elvis, naturally. Rockabilly and DooWop from the 50's. Honky Tonk and Country from the 60's. Some of that 60's punk and garage stuff moves me (The Sonics, Early Yardbirds, Dutch Outsiders, Mexican Garage). I've been devoted to Morrissey since June 8th, 1985 and never hear enough of the Smiths. FYC and the Specials also showed me the way to subculture in my teens. Elvis Costello, Beck, Iggy Pop. I LOVE LOVE LOVE music from Africa, Hawaii, Cuba, The Carribean, Mexico and Argentina especially 40's-50's)- South African Jazz and Jive, Trinidandian Calypso from 50's London, TexMex and all types of Latin Music. Me gusta Los Zafiros, Los Lobos, Flaco Jimenez y Freddy Fender. The Legendary Les Paul. Many sounds for many moods. Sam Cooke is King. Dwight Yoakam's voice makes me weak in the knees. Big Sandy and his Boys have always and will always hold a HUGE place in my heart. As will the Derailers. Dusty Chance and the Allnighters blow my mind- as does Omar Romero, Santos Chicas and the Hi-Strung Rambers- they're....WILD!

James Cain, Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett, Jim Thompson, James Ellroy, Dorothy Parker, Tennessee Williams, William Faulkner, are some of my favorite writers. Every book I've ever finished I pretty much love. I never bother finishing something that doesn't grip me. I love David Sedaris for the way he makes me laugh and shed a tear nearly every page. I can read his essays over and over and over...
