PROFILEKohra is New Delhi (India) based Madhav Shorey. His career in music began at the tender age of 16, as a drummer for various rock bands. His early interest towards elecronica drew him to dj'ing and while still 17, he was the finalist at the "War of the Dj's" DJ Competition where he first showcased his skills as a Dj / Turntablist. Soon he was playing regularly at most clubs in India. He was also the resident Dj @ Club Q'ba (New Delhi) for a year. He then turned towards producing his own music and went ahead to learn the tricks of the trade himself and in no time he was producing not just dance music but all kinds of electronica out of his home studio.
While dj'ing he plays a wide array of music ranging from Minimal Electro, House, Progressive Trance and Psychedelic. His productions are also inspired by the same style resulting in a hybrid of sounds and elements breaking the ever so evident genre barrier most dj's and producers confide themselves to. He is inspired by Native world rythms including Indian Ethnic sounds that hail from his homeland which are often subtely present in his music. Also a member of the well known Indian Electronica act "Jalebee Cartel" for which he contributes with his skills as a Drummer / Percussionist / DJ and producer. As Jalebee Cartel he has released music with some of the worlds best Electronic Dance Music Labels and also had the honor of collaborating / remixing some of the worlds most sort after artists.
Madhav is also persuing Graphic / Media Design for which he moves to Australia (Melbourne) this year to recieve formal education. He is currently working with various labels and promoting his sound independantly as a dj and producer, promoting intelligent dance music in all ways possible.
