Vietnamese International Film Festival (ViFF) 2007
April 12 - 15 & 19 - 22
SHARING VISIONS
Established in October 2003 by the two non-profit 501(c) (3) organizations Vietnamese American Arts & Letters Association and VietNamese Language & Culture (VNLC).
ViFF is committed to showcasing cinematic works by filmmakers of Vietnamese descent. In the postwar era, the stories of indigenous and overseas Vietnamese provide some of the most dynamic perspectives on the lives of the Vietnamese that are now being produced. ViFF's mission is to support, stimulate and expose this emergent cinema, created through the lens of Vietnamese directors.
ViFF aims to provide a nurturing environment for its artists to engage in a broadening dialogue with an international community. ViFF also serves as an important educational tool for learning about the historical and contemporary experiences of the Vietnamese throughout the world.
Through the universal language of cinema, ViFF 2007 celebrates the diversity of our communities by bringing together a multiplicity of perspectives and voices. This year's festival theme, SHARING VISIONS, demonstrates that issues and experiences - while remaining specific to Vietnamese international communities - also contain universal appeal and critical import to a wider, global audience.
The festival opens its submission criteria to include all filmmakers and production crews of Vietnamese descent. We welcome submissions by Vietnamese filmmakers who make films with non-Vietnamese content and non-Vietnamese filmmakers who choose to focus their story on Vietnam and its culture. ..table
