About Me

menoir pieces are mostly live, realtime performances. The beauty of this is that the pieces couldn't ever be played the same way twice. The pieces use prerecorded sonic elements that are triggered and manipulated in real time through a large variety of processes. The musical style incorporates many different aspects of electronic music, but doesn't rely too heavily on any of them. If any classification could be used, the word 'abstract' would precede it...PD (PureData) graphical music processing language... This programming environment allows explorations of algorithmic methods and generative schemes that aren't normally available to musicians via the most common commercial software. Max/MSP is a very good commercial version of this platform, and has given me a lot of nice compositional optionsaudio or inspiration sources vary greatly: the airwaves, the net, field recordings, books, dreams.Instruments are home made electronic, standard, software, ethnic etc... Lately I'm digging out all of the monsterous contraptions I built in the late 1980s, lots of strange analog processors, sequencers etc. Also, I cant forget the 2 decades of experimental cassette tapes choking my upstairs, which I still draw from- Damn, I need a bigger place.... ------
