Sounds Like: "WIDE OPEN"
CD 16 tracks - DISCORDIAN Records - DREC 005 - Distribution EMI MUSIC France
Wide Open is to electronic music what the Treatise on the whorehouse by ROMI is to the world of brothels : a rich and erudite work, exhaling beauty out of the darkness, with a certain touch of poetry linked to perversita.
Marc HURTADO, of ETANT DONNES (seminal avant-gardist duo vidéo, performance, music, etc.. ), keeps at his electronic project SOL IXENT for a 1rst real album after having composed 5 tracks for "La vie nouvelle" soundtrack, a film by Philippe Grandrieux.
"Wide Open" draws its influences from the best acts of the Industrial scene (THROBBING GRISTLE Chris and Cosey branch , SUICIDE, TEST DEPT, etc) and mixes, with a wise talent and subjectivity, sounds and rythms stamped by the new beat style, acid house and Berliner Disko.
Transcended by the erotic charge of Saba Komossas vocals (ex-DELKOM, cultish duo of the Berliner techno scene in the 80s, formed by a member of DAF), those 16 tracks vary between atmospheres à la David Lynch (« Blue hole », « Oui »), sensuous electronica (« Soy », « The Last Trump »), technoïd bombblasts ( Burn) and explore new soundscapes with original beats, Sub-bass and sound effects.
"Wide Open" is an album both abstruse and danceable, iconoclastic and hype, a Unidentified Sound Object if intellectual laziness takes over curiosity.
