"Crucial Sky in the Land of Premonitions at Lorenzo's Weekend," Farmacia's first release on Psych-O-Path records, clearly reflects a profound knowledge of the historical development of electronic music. Recognizable sounds that mirror artists from labels such as Raster Noton are filtered through arrangements that echo late seventies French synthesizer music. Hypnotic beats pulse through complex compositions that propel the listener into a toe-tapping mind bending trance. Sounds characteristic of the Kompakt label interspersed with noisy jarring jams, and catchy synthesizer arrangements results in unique and authentic sound. Farmacia is Ariel Sima (electronics, programmer and instruments), Diego Sima (Vocals, graphics and instruments), and Sebastian Rodriguez Porto (instruments). The Argentinean trio met in 2000 and released their first EP on their own label Discos Sordos.
Following their debut Musica Envasada (2000) they released Mal Y Bien A la Vez (2001), 13 Nebulizaciones (2004) and Nanas (2005). Psych-O-Path is excited to release a compilation of un-released and released tracks that encapsulate the evolution of Farmacia sound over the past six years. Three visceral and creepy songs that appear on 'Crucial Sky in the Land of Premonitions at Lorenzo's Weekend," are included on the horror movie soundtrack, "Grite Una Noche." Manas, a song from the horror soundtrack, layers a landscape of sound that invites danger with the repeating baritone notes, static cutting sound affects, and sparse single vibrating guitar strings. Que Se Le Va a Hacer is built around a three-chord synthesizer melody in the tradition of 70's space music and slowly integrate grating noises and abrupt blips and bleeps that disorient and invade the listeners peaceful ride through synthesizer space. The track then circles the listener back into where it all began in the three-part melody. Brothers Ariel and Diego Sima, a pharmacy employees, perform on stage with their lab coats double as costumes and neon signs from the pharmacy double as props in their extra terrestrial performance. Farmacia and their piers have created an energetic and vibrant electronic music scene in Buenos Aires where they play various venues and festivals. They played at BUE festival in Buenos Aires with Massive Attack, Human League, Andrew Fletcher, and Rinoceroce.
