About Me

I am currently playing for K-OS and namedropper....I first became interested in drums when I was 4, and was quoted by my dad as saying "I want to beat the dums" My dad, who is one of my greatest mentors, plays guitar at a level that people compare to George Benson. He instantly recognized my love of the drums and rented me my first kit at 11 years old. I played everyday in the basement which my mom and dad tolerated to a degree that I can't even imagine. My first gig was 3 years later with my dads band. My dad, whose standard in musicianship is very high, and commanded the same from his fellow band mates was often frustrated with band members who didn't have the same vision; he soon came to see that I had had a natural feel and quality that he was seeking in a drummer. From his recommendations I began playing with seasoned musicians with whose criticism, suggestions and insight I gained 10 years worth of knowledge. I played drums throughout high school, and a year after graduation; I enrolled in Grant McEwans two year college music program. In the second year, I began playing with Johnny V and The House Rockers, which would prove to be an invaluable asset to my growth and maturity as a drummer. Johnny was one of the first musicians, that I knew, who proved himself night after night with his playing. There was no question on where to go, when playing with Johnny, he brought the best out in me without having to say a word. In the summer after graduating from Grant McEwan, I entered The Calgary Drum Wars competition, which took place over a 2 month elimination period where I beat out 70 drummers, for 1st place. It was through an article in Modern Drummer Magazine though (my bible) that I decided to go L.A to attend P.I.T (Percussion Institute of Technology) During one week at P.I.T, I was surprised to find out from a fellow student, Luca Bertolucci, that an instructor had used one of my drum licks as the lesson for the day. At the PIT graduating ceremony, I was awarded the All Around Stylist award. I returned to Calgary and hooked up with Toby Peter who played bass for a reggae band called Activate. Two years later, Toby and I joined my friend Russ Klyne, from Grant McEwan, to form the band Salvador Dream. After a bidding war, Salvador Dream was signed to Warner and produced 2 records and three videos. Salvador Dream toured almost non stop for 3 years. Although Salvador Dream ended, it was just the beginning for us, as we experimented more with our jazz roots and later become known as namedropper. Russ began collaborating and co-writing with K-OS, and soon after Toby and I were called on to join, and form a solid touring band. Today, with K-OS's third record due to come out in Canada in October, 2006 and then worldwide, I am poised to hit the world stage and hopefully my first appearance at The Montreal Drum Festival.I endorse VATER, SONOR, SABIAN, EVANS
