Reading. Getting outdoors. Laying on the beach. Devouring US Weekly when it arrives in my mailbox. Watching movies, especially documentaries. Watching TV on DVD. Going nuts on itunes. Listening to 80's music. Most of all, hanging out with my wonderful husband and three glorious cats.
Cool Austinites...and cat lovers...and nerds.
Obviously, The Beatles are the best band EVER, hands down. Can't seem to let go of the 80's. I'll forever be a hard-core Duranee. Still love The Cure, The Smiths, New Order, Erasure, Depeche Mode, Culture Club... I sing at the top of my lungs when I hear 'I Like Big Butts', 'Humpty Dance' and Vanilla Ice...I enjoy a trip back to the 90's now and then(thank you, iTunes): Sublime, The Offspring, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Black Crowes, Janes Addiction...I'm a Brit-pop nut (I met my husband in a brit-pop chat room 10 years ago). I LOVE Pulp and think Jarvis Cocker is amazing! Oasis had some good tunes (Champagne Supernova, anyone?) Blur, T-Rex, and Cornershop - all stellar bands. Denzil - the BEST band you probably don't know.I'm an ABBA freak.Prince, Chili Peppers, Green Day and U2 have and always will be great.Madonna can do no wrong.Eminem is a lyrical genius. The classics will never get old: The Beatles, duh. Pink Floyd, Cheap Trick...
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf is one of the all time greats. American Beauty is perfection. Anything by Charlie Kaufman - Adaptation tops the list. Anything by the Cohen Brothers. I'll never get sick of Raising Arizona. Everything by Christopher Guest. I freakin' love Napolean Dynamite. Gosh! Life is Beautiful is truly one of the most beautiful movies ever made. House of Sand and Fog is unbelievebly good. The Royal Tannenbaums - fantastic! Boogie Nights - holy shit! Moulin Rouge - just about the greatest love story put on film. Welcome to the Doll House simply Rules! Pretty much everything Woody Allen does is golden.
By far, without a doubt, the best show on TV today is SCRUBS! The cast, the writing... it is all brilliant. If you aren't watching it - please start. The best show to come along in a long while is Campus Ladies on Oxygen. It is H-I-Larious! The Simpsons - 18 seasons and still fantastic. Family Guy - even when they push the envlope too far, I'm still cracking up. Curb Your Enthusiasm - Good God, that is a funny show. I like The Office (British version first but American show is good). CSI - only Vegas, Baby! Brilliant but Canceled: The best show to ever grace the small screen - FREAKS AND GEEKS! What the hell was NBC thinking letting this one go after only one season. If you don't know of it - buy the DVD. You will not regret it. Arrested Development - why do all the greats get cancelled?
Tom Robbins is my all time favorite writer (aside from an unknown author with the initials RAB). Still Life with Woodpecker is probably my favorite book - but everything he's written is beyond great. Anything and everything by David Sedaris. Everything by Tim Sandlin, Skipped Parts is especially good. Little Children by Tom Perrota. His other stuff is enjoyable - but he really hit his stride with Little Children. I didn't want The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time to end. Plan to tackle Middlesex next.I'm picky with my reading - so I'll take any recommendations - please!
My husband. He is the most intelligent person I have ever known and his quest for knowledge is never ending. His drive and passion for his art is an inpsiration. His talents will be known to the world someday.
