What's Happening in Portland Right Now? 5/26/08 - 10:49 pm - [TOP OF THE KATU NEWS...LOL]Man shoots and kills his neighbor's dog, tells police it was justified - According to police reports, Brian Lee Powell told Linn County deputies he thought he could shoot the dog because it was on his land and he lives outside the city limits. His house is just on the outskirts of Albany.....(A. What a redneck idiot. B. Why is this at the top of the news on KATU's website?) and in other news... Zoo reconsiders peacock policy in light of attack - Over the weekend, one of the freely roaming peacocks attacked a young boy. He is fine, but this isn't the first time a peacock has attacked a kid at the zoo. In the summer of 2006, a 2-year-old boy was injured. (So basically, some moron let their kid wander and the kid came across a peacock, got too close or was teasing it or whatever and presto - kid got hurt. And now the parent is blaming the zoo? What kind of retard parent isn't watching their kid at the zoo and let's let them get "injured" by a frickin peacock? Should the zoo have a new policy detaining squirrels from roaming freely because one might run up and bite a kid that tries to pet it? I mean, how about a little common sense? And even if the peacock did come up and attack the kid unprovoked then deal with it...put the bird away, cage it, get rid of it...whatever...but don't round up every other peacock in the world because of a couple incidents...Did you know that peacocks can be found several miles from the zoo roaming free in the metro area? We also have roaming ducks, geese, beavers, fish, dogs, cats....should we round up all wildlife and pets and destroy them all? Ok, I'll stop ranting now.) - For more "news" and information, visit KGW.com , KATU Channel 2 , or Koin 6. Featured Artist

I think the last interesting book I read was House of Leaves. Very cool, although a bit disturbing. Good read though. If you know of a great novel or story I'd love to hear about it.
Here are some books I'm currently reading... (No, I'm not an avid reader. I'm actually super Attention Deficit when it comes to reading so the list below exists because I have started reading these books but have yet to finish any of them. Although I would still highly recommend them all from what I've read so far at least):
The Assault on Reason - Al Gore
Armed Mad House - Greg Palast
Confessions of an Economic Hitman - John Perkins
Haunted - Chuck Palahniuk
