About Me
The "Wednesday Wreck" debuted in 1993 as part of the "Verbal Technician" show. Muhammed, the host of the "Verbal Tech" show wanted to spice up his 5 day a week air shift. He already had well respected producer Kutmasta Kurt on board as part of his "Fat Friday" show. But he wanted to continue to rejuvenate his show. When DJ Kazzeo and DJ Kool One were let go by a cross town station in July of 1993, Muhammed welcomed them with open arms. The "Wednesday Wreck" soon debuted and became a staple in the program schedule of KHDC. In addition, the show has stayed consistent over the years in delivering, week after week, the latest in underground Hip Hop from all avenues, coasts, hoods, etc. While other shows and dj's have come and gone, "Wednesday Wreck" has stayed solid. From it's inception, the on air team consisted of Verbal Tek, Kazzeo, and Kool One. In 1995 a new member was added in the form of Miss J, a young lady hailing from Watsonville, CA. She helped add a female perspective to the highly testosterone filled environment.Eventually after the show debuted in 1993, about 3 & 1/2 year later to be exact, Kool One moved from the area and was no longer able to be part of the show. It was at this time that Blast One became a regular member of the on air team handling shout outs and reading mail.By the end of 1998, Kazzeo was the sole remaining member of the team as the others had moved out the area, lost interest, or just moved on to other things. In January of 2000, longtime friend Jason D joined the show. Jason and Kazzeo had known each other since 1990 and always shared similar tastes in music. This wasn't the first time the two had been paired together on air though. From 1994 to 1999, Kazzeo was a co-host on Jason D's "Wyse Up Show" which aired on Santa Cruz's 88.1 KZSC. After the decision was made in late 1999 to discontinue the show, it was the only logical next step for Jason to come on board for the "Wednesday Wreck".Around 2002, Jason D relocated out of the area for his job. Although he was no longer able to be present every week physically, he still maintained his presence on the show by sending weekly mixes to be used during the show.In 2005, local producer / rapper Tahmi Gotti became a contributing member of the show handling webcam broadcasts and answering phones. In late 2007, Tahmi Gotti left the show due to personal reasons. As 2008 begins, the show is back to it's roots. Kazzeo hosting and Jason D rockin' the mix.Currently, the search is on to find a new member of the team. The following is a list of every artist that has been interviewed on the "Wednesday Wreck" show since it's debut.
