I am here for Networking

About Me

I'm an author, poet, and all-round nice person, with too many stories left to tell. But I'll do the best I can.

Some of you have asked me for book recommendations. Some of my favorites can be found under my Top Friends.

Many of you have asked if there will be a third book about Kristina/Bree. The answer is-----most likely! But it won't be the next book. That's IDENTICAL, about identical twins whose father has a twisted obsession with one of them. Due out in August. Check out the cover in my photo album!

YOU CAN PREORDER IDENTICAL NOW. CONTACT YOUR LOCAL MAJOR BOOKSTORE OR AMAZON AND BE ONE OF THE FIRST TO OWN IT!

I also have some shorter stuff coming out in anthologies this year. A novella called JUST PLAIN LISA appears in a May anthology titled BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO. And a short story called "Pretty, Hungry" will be included in a summer anthology called DOES THIS BOOK MAKE ME LOOK FAT?

Oh yes. And I just started a new novel, TRICKS, about five teens who fall into prostitution, for very different reasons. So that's what I'm working on now, plus assorted other projects. More on those, to come!

Busted Balloons

So wow, two blogs in two days. The first, all inflated. And this one, talking about how life regularly reminds us of our mortality. No, I'm not dying. And neither is any person close to me. But this m...

John McCain

So here is my (admittedly very Democratic-leaning] position on Mr. McCain’s current view (as of ten minutes ago) that we’re "winning the war in Iraq." First off, I respect any man who has ...

More From Down Under

Many of you have mentioned you'd like to see Down Under, but wonder if you ever can make it here. I'd like to encourage you to find a way, for many reasons. (And there ARE ways.... including school pr...

Magic

A writer friend, Kerry Madden, has a Christmas Eve essay in the LA Times. It's all about how her nine-year-old son looked at her and said, "The ONLY THING I want for Christmas is to believe in Santa a...

Moments

There's a lovely quote (I've seen it attributed to George Carlin, but not sure that's who said it first), one of my favorites. It goes something like: Life is not measured by the number of breaths you...

Giving Thanks

When I was younger, Thanksgiving was all about the food. As a kid, it was mostly about eating. Later, when I had kids of my own, it became about cooking. Trying to recreate my family's traditional rec...
