Hugging the Rock is a middle grade verse novel for girls ages 9-12.
It focuses on the positive relationship between a father and a daughter after the mother leaves. There are many things Rachel didn't know about her mom, including the fact that she suffered from bi-polar disorder. After her mom runs away, Rachel begins to pick up the pieces of her life. She learns how to deal with the secrets of her mother's past and realizes that the best kind of rock is one like her father, the kind you can lean on when the rest of your world is falling apart.

First off - I am happily married and not interested in meeting anyone for anything other than networking. Please don't send me any of "those kind" of notes.
I also already have a fabulous agent at Writers House, so I'm not looking for representation either.
I want to meet other writers and people who love books for children. People who have a dream and want to work hard to make it come true. People who help other people make dreams come true. Librarians - oh I love librarians! They're the keepers of the keys. Teachers, teachers of all kinds because we can all learn from one another and teachers of young readers and writers - you do some of the toughest work I know and I appreciate you. Readers. Readers of my books, parents who read my books to their kids, people who love all books and especially children's literature from picture books to young adult.
I'd like to connect with community groups in my Silicon Valley area who would like a speaker or a workshop leader. Don't let the idea that I write books for kids turn you away.
I miss Buffy.
To ask a writer and a book lover to name just a few favorite books is impossible. Here are a few though, Because of Winn Dixie, Love That Dog and anything by Joan Bauer. My favorite time of the day, if I'm not writing, is to curl up with a book. A children's book. Give me a picture book, a middle grade novel, or a young adult novel and I am a happy girl.
Blatant self-promotion here: Picture books Oliver's Must-do List and Can I Pray With My Eyes Open? and the easy reader
