I need some good music!
Tim Letteer, AKA: TRL, born in Allentown PA, discovered his passion for composing dance music at the early age of 12 when improvising disco versions of hymns on the piano. His teenage years saw the writing and recording of his own music and at age 16 Tim placed in the top five for a christian teen magazine song writing contest. Tim went on to write music and play keyboards in local christian and alternative rock bands. Even though he enjoyed playing live, his heart yearned to write and produce music. Tim's earliest influences came from listening to Donna Summer tracks. He sat for hours analyzing Giorgio Moroder's flawless music production while getting lost in Donna's captivating vocals. "The music was so ahead of its time, it just blew my mind," Tim says. "and her voice moves me to this day." Tim's other early influences include Queen, ELO, The Cars, New Order, Erasure and Depeche Mode.
Tim eventually stopped pursuing music aggressively, though he never stopped writing and recording for his own pleasure. When he moved from Philadelphia to New York in 2000, he was introduced to Jeff Dorta, the writer of Kevin Aviances hit single "Alive." When the two hit it off and collaborated on "Broke Free," a track featuring Kristen Ficara, the wholehearted practice of music began in earnest. In 2005 Tim connected with legendary DJ Junior Vasquez through a remix contest and saw his first remix release of Simone Denny's "Cliche" on the JVM Label. Around the same time his original track "Justify" could be heard in the CBS movie "Vampire Bats". Since, in addition to his original work, Tim's produced remixes for various artists including MarQus, Vernessa Mitchell, David Serrano, Jason Walker, DJ Reed McGowan, Jessica Vale and Edson Pride.
