Growing up in Texas, Victor Trevino dreamed of living in New York City. After finishing college and living in the Northeast for nearly five years, he finally arrived in dance music's epicenter in late 2001. With little more than a stack of records and a couple of turntables, he set out to achieve his goal of working in the music industry.
It was while living in Boston that Victor discovered his appreciation for dance music. Talented local DJs and visiting legends like Frankie Knuckles fueled Victor's fascination for music and club culture. He had heard of New York's legendary nightclubs and on a Saturday night in August 1997 he realized he had to pursue his new found passion for music. From the moment he stepped onto the dance floor at New York City's Palladium and turned to see four stories of Junior Vasquez fans that he decided that it would be his mission to become a DJ.
Victor started collecting music soon after and spent four years traveling to New York to hear the most innovative DJs play. Working as a consultant during the day, he spent every free moment refining his skills at the turntables. It was after he moved to New York City and became a music publicist and promoter that Victor's unique sound caught the discerning ear of the city's hard-to-impress nightlife elite.
Soon Victor was playing to dance floors around the country. He landed gigs in Philadelphia, Boston, Denver and Los Angeles and was even featured at the New Talent Showcase at the 2003 Winter Music Conference.
Over the past few years, new musical styles and a changing club scene in New York City persuaded Victor to evolve his sound. Drawing on influences ranging from Radiohead and Goldfrapp to Tom Stephan and Richard Vission, he is now armed with an arsenal of fresh tunes. Victor commands the dance floor with an explosive mix of funky disco beats, driving progressive electro and rock-infused house music. The combination of styles and relentless attention to detail has been garnering him praise at every gig.
It's time to re-introduce Victor Trevino. With a new sound and commitment to his passion for music, he hopes to win fans one gig at a time.
