I'd like to meet:

My name: Sara Keiser:
I grew up on a mile away from a dairy farm with my parents (Dave and Naomi), sister Kim, sheepdog named Sheena and a poodle named Billy in southeastern South Dakota. I had a good childhood. My first job was feeding baby calves, and my pay was a Barbie at the end of the summer, I got "Pink" (the Barbie) I started to sew really pretty dresses for her inspired from the t.v. movie "North & South". I moved to New York City years after the Barbie and went to school at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where I recieved an A.A.S.S in Patternmaking Technology and an A.A.S.S. in Fashion Design. I will soon be finishing with my B.F.A. in Fashion Design.

I'm currently selling my line at:

The Dressing Room is more than just a retail store...it is also a community center where neighborhood residents, artists, and customers come together. A casual environment, a full bar, live DJ events, free internet, a large screen projector showing movies, and a range of fashion, art, and music magazines, are just some of the things The Dressing Room has to offer.

History of Box 185

Working on the dairy farm located at RR1 Box 185 in Alcester, South Dakota, Sara Keiser learned the fundamentals of hard work, perseverance, and the pursuit of goals. Borrowing from the country textures of cow skin, fresh plowed soil and corn husks Sara developed a taste for incorporating animal and landscape into her designs. These humble beginnings have grown to Box 185 being sold in stores throughout the US and Japan. Like the wildflowers from the South Dakota prairie, Box 185 is growing and expanding every day. Currently borrowing inspiration from the streets of New York City, Sara’s dresses and leggings contain the muted, jagged lines indicative of 21st Century fem fatal. Accentuating the female form, Box 185 brings sex appeal to the modern woman.

Philosophy of Business

BOX 185 clothing lines contains custom made, one of a kind, wicked pieces of clothing and accessories. The custom creations are sculpted around each individual’s personality, body, age with a common understanding of each woman’s innate desire to feel sexy. Original pieces of work are a wearable art that inspire fun, flirtation and sex appeal. BOX 185 uses fluid and innovative fabrics, vintage t-shirts and denim.

Sara Keiser Bio

Sara Keiser grew up in South Eastern South Dakota on a dairy farm. From a young age, Sara had an eye for fashion, fun and flirtation. After High School, Sara attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City earning an AAS in Patternmaking with a specialization in cut and sew knits and sportswear, an AAS in Fashion Design with a specialization in Art, and a BFA in Fashion Design with a specialization in sportswear. Sara works with knits, leather and faux furs to build her designs while continuing to borrow from the influence of farm life and love of animals.

Inspiration of Collection

Keiser will be showing Fall ‘08, Holiday ’09 and Spring ’09. The line travels through landscapes on horseback..in frigid temperatures of the mountains and glaciers one rides on a Clydesdale by day and on a bear skin rug near fire by night. Traveling further south on a thouroubread one rides through the streets of Las Vagas. Riding on quarter horse on the beaches of the Caribbean.

Music:

I'm into a lot of music. I love my friend Mel's music mix cd's that she gives me. she is super star dj. I will listen to it all at any given point. Give me Dolly Parton old school, like Jolene, and I'll be happy. I like to listen to the Gorillaz and I wouldn't mind hearing some Goerge Therogood about now too. I fancy some big band and I've always had an ear for the Ditty Bops. I guess I really love it all. I can't think of one sound I don't like, I'll hear it all.
