ALIEN

There is something ALIEN in all of us. Embrace it.

About Me

To us, ALIEN was the bastard love-child of a little garage band named REVOLUTIONARY and a few passionate dreams that died along the way. That said, there probably won't ever be music on this site, at least not for a long time, and we apologize for that. But a few people sent us friend requests anyways, so we figured this page could be kept as a little doorway to a few other people with unique ideas. As to what ALIEN symbolizes to us, if anything, is a reminder that everyone has a gift or curse, an ability or an obstacle, or just some aspect of their soul that separates them from everyone else. If you just realize this uniqueness in everyone or more importantly, realize why it matters, then our world becomes a bit more alien, a bit more strange and beautiful in its own right, and you'll see that there's still wonder left in this realm. Maybe, just maybe, there's still something on our planet that makes it worth saving. So embrace most the powers and dreams that will make you uniquely useful to your companions, your country, your world, and most importantly, your self. Everyone you will ever meet has something to teach you in their own way, and you have just as much to give to them. You need only to embrace your knowledge and those learning with you, embrace your passion and those standing beside you, and embrace your ingenuity and those building a better world all around you. Embrace what makes you ALIEN.And see, here's the interesting thing. Just look at our Top Friends list and you're going to see a variety of perceptions. So we might not agree with every single thing one of them says, but we do agree with many of them, and we'll still, as the saying goes, fight to the death for their right to say it. That's a war we should all be willing to fight because it's the one we can never stop fighting.Maybe the real battle's just beginning. What we need to realize is what its focus must be. We have to fight for free speech, but free speech means nothing if no one's listening. Open discourse—or more importantly, logical discourse—needs to be more prevalent in our society. Even if we don't support someone's logical arguments, we should be willing to fight for their voice to be heard. For your own sake, force yourself to ask WHY something is happening and not just believe in those who refuse to tell you anything but that it JUST IS. Take some time to learn about some of those arguments and beliefs that you hold so sacred. Then learn about the other side's arguments. Then ask yourself why you're only learning two sides. So why do you need to do this? Your life's probably not that bad. If you're reading this right now, chances are you don't have any problems with the government trying to arrest you or anything drastic like that. So why are we making an issue out of all this?Because this isn't just something that will better our Earth, that will just make its lands safer or its people more united. This isn't just about preventing a future United Police States of America or fighting those who cause pain and suffering in the world. It's not really even about fighting anyone. It's about fighting apathy. This is about our collective destiny. This is about becoming who we were meant to be. For some, this means finding the strength we know is hiding inside ourselves. For others, this means realizing that the strength was even there to begin with. We have to open our minds to a world and a people that need us so desperately. We must be free thinkers by responsibility.

: Hahaha...well, we aren't sure.

When we were young, America's youth were still reeling from Nevermind. Because of our parents, some of us listened to classical music: Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, The Planets by Gustav Holst, some more contemporary stuff like movie soundtracks by John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, ET, and Harry Potter), and a song called Blackberry Winter, Mvmt. III by Conni Ellisor. The rest of us were alternative and rock all the way. We were very eclectic in our musical interests, to say the least. Then we heard Adiemus for the first time. The British "new-age" group, helmed by Karl Jenkins, instantly became one of our favorites. We can't say that we would ever sound like them because their projects are so massively orchestrated and wonderfully epic, but it certainly gave us a wider view of what music can be. As Karl Jenkins put it so perfectly, "The text in Adiemus is written phonetically, with the words viewed as instrumental sound. The human voice is the oldest instrument and by removing the distraction of lyrics, we hope to create a sound that is universal and timeless." While the songs we wrote did inevitably feed and play off lyrics, we forced ourselves to remember that the rhythm, the actual notes, and even any miscellaneous "sound effects," have to flow together. They have to contribute and do their part to create the piece. So we're a rock band at heart, and always will be, even as we hit the major breaking point: college. Yeah, we all have diverging destinies, changing passions, and unique interests in music. Modern popular music does affect us, and while some may shake their heads, we do have to give thanks to a number of artists for some good, solid music. Green Day's American Idiot does insult George W. Bush, but it's a damn good rock opera, and once you get past the politics and the language, it tells a story that's nothing but memorable. A few other bands like Evanescence, Linkin Park, and Breaking Benjamin have shown us that you shouldn't be afraid of a little unshakable darkness every once in a while, and on the other side of the coin, songs like Natasha Bedingfield's Unwritten and Accidentally in Love by Counting Crows have shown us that bubbling optimism and warmth can be a beautiful thing too. Finally, devoid of any real reason, there are some songs that are just plain fun to listen to and play, like Breed by Nirvana, Street Fighting Man by the Rolling Stones, and the Halo Theme Mjolnir Mix (just to name a few).So we don't really know what we sound like. Of course, we don't sound like anything right now, but who knows what the future will bring. As someone put it to us once, never say never...

Yeah, we know. We still don't have any music, but we have had some people wondering if there was any chance there COULD ever be any, so we dug out these old song lyrics one of us wrote a while back.&...
