COMMENTS: There's a sense of infinity as well as primal emotions in every song on "Glimpses." Every song seems take you to the outer limits of this world and beyond, into space, whilst taking you deeper within yourself. A journey of self-discovery awaits the listener who surrenders to the sounds herein.
Songs from the CD Glimpses is a wonderful diverse mix written and sung by a passionate songwriter
It is both impressive and enjoyable. I am especially impressed with the diversity of genre and the fine musicianship and production throughout. It's a disc that I'll be listening to often!
REVIEW: It is probably a good time to be UK singer songwriter Julian Shome. With the likes of James Blunt and Jack Johnson blazing a way for original solo artists I can see Julian's debut album Glimpses doing very well indeed. Not that Julian is a carbon copy of those two artists as his music flits all around the musical genres from instrumental melody to indie pop.
For me it is the poppy opener, Bang The Gun, which is the stand out track, a glorious catchy little number with a simple super riff coupled with a marvellous horn arrangement. That and the last song, the title track Glimpses, marks Julian out as a songwriter of enormous talent and potential.
Sometimes a cross between French sound gods Air and British quirky pop genius Badly Drawn Boy, Julian's instrumental pieces were on the whole delightful and showed his knack at capturing an atmosphere with sublime melodies. Neil Jones, Evening Gazette, Colchester
