Try the BEST MySpace Editor at MySpace Toolbox !Swampy, stompy, back-breakin', molar-shakin' and channeling the spirit of late 60s/early 70s rock, Auckland's The Rock and Roll Machine sprang to life late in 1999. Formed by North Shore son of a preacher Matt Stroobant (guitar/vocals) and Croatian bass machine Karin Canzek (bass/vocals).
Their first gigs were on tour with the D4 and with their primal rhythms, wailing psychedelic guitar and spectacular stage antics they caused a stir - jumping off stuff, smashing stuff and setting fire to other stuff.
2002 saw founding drummer Paul Robertson say goodbye to the band. He was replaced by the mighty Rich Mixture ( Shaft, D4) just in time for a trip overseas - LA, Detroit, New York and London.
The band has toured with The White Stripes and supported the likes of Guitar Wolf, MC5, The Dirt Bombs and all-time heroes, Dead Moon.
After hundreds of gigs, and a handful of vinyl 7"s, The Rock and Roll Machine have finally released their long-awaited, self-titled debut album. Recorded at Frisbee Studios in Auckland then mixed and mastered in an actual garage. All songs were written and produced by the band.
